This tie was huge for the program. I think Pooch just solidified his position for next year.

It is better than a loss, but I don't know. I think we had so many more opportunities to make it 3-2. Cough---Rogers pushing the goal much? Delay of game much?

A tie is better than a loss ANY DAY!!! You are right about the missed opportunities (story of the season), but the way they battled through the crappy referring and still pulled out the tie after that waved off goal, I was very happy after that game!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I am happy with a tie and not a lose. Our guys played with heart and energy. Jimmy Spratt got my vote for # 1 star of the game.

But before we start crowning Pooch for a great winning streak. UAF wiffed on
how many end nets and hit the bar how many times. That game could have been 5 -2 (again). We gave up how many pp goals on Friday night.
On the other hand we kiled off, what was it, 5 differant 5 on 3's for the weekend? Way to go guys.

Friday night, is it Pooch's fault that Geelan decided to give that guy just one more wack after the whistle? no! Is it Pooch's fault that Wilkens is a poor referee ( you know that I edited that desciption) ? no!

I am glad that my job is not determined by outside sources that I can not control. Oh, yes I do have a job like that and so does practically everyone.

I have to feel for Coach Paluch, and the guys; but I do not think a tie against on of the other worst teams in the league justifies 4 more years of dead frecken last in the league . Soorrry, but the last 10 years of BG hockey is starting to get to me.

Anyone see Dr. Ribeau at the games this weekend? Soorrry again, arcasm is not called for.

Puckhead I believe you knew the quote was a joke.

This team is making a run at being the worst team in BG history. I think they need to get 9 wins to avoid that honor. I dont really see 4 more wins on our schedule.

Dannyk, sorry, you can tell that I have about lost it. What is bad is the thought that there might be people that would believe that a tie is a win, and a win is job security.
We have commented following Alan Mayberry's letter that the city identity, BGHYA, BGSU Hockey, BGHS Hockey,( and cash flow ) start at the ice arena.

For the sake of the community that is built around the ice arena
Fire Pooch, Fire Ribeau.
I guess I better plan to move to Findlay after that comment.

What?

How can you not be sold on the second part????

What do you need to see happen to realize that Paluch needs to go? Does the team have to lose every game in order for you to understand that Pooch needs to go.

Seriously, everyone on this board should agree that Paluch needs to be let go and most of you have. There is no debate anymore. Nobody can defend him anymore. My teamates and I have been trying to let you know how incapable Paluch is of being a head coach for the last two years. I think it is pretty obvious that we were right. Everything that we have said on this board has been true. So whoever is still out there that still wants to back Paluch, which i know is not many, please wake up.

FIRE SCOTT PALUCH!!!!!!!

I need to see a coach that has a University backing him and his program before I will blame the coach. Once he gets FULL support from the University and doesn't show anything, then I'll believe he is the problem. The University has shown that its athletic priorities are not with the hockey program.

Im not sure how much the new AD likes hockey but it doesnt help when we are one of the worst teams in the nation.

I even heard rumors that away games were not going to be on the radio next year, does anyone know anything about this?

Greg Christopher understands the tradition of great hockey at BG and realizes that when it's done right, it's our best chance to truly compete on an elite level in the NCAA.

Why would you want to fire Ribeau? He's been a great President for the University.

You sir, are out of your mind. We're sitting through the worst season in the history of BG Hockey, and you don't think Paluch should be on the first wind turbine out of BG? 5-22-2! Let me say that again, our record is 5-22-2! We have almost triple the number of three goal+ losses (14) as we do wins (5). They can't score, they can't play defense, our goaltending is sporadic at best and terrible at worst, our power play is an F'ing joke, and the players have practically all given up on the coach and the season. And you don't think Paluch should be fired?

Perhaps the only thing worse than you thinking Paluch shouldn't be fired, is that you think Sidney Ribeau should be. Sidney Ribeau has instituted locks on tuition increases for well-performing students and students in need. He got dining services to roll over funds from one semester to the next for on campus meal plans. During his tenure, Bowling Green has given out more academic scholarships to incoming students as percent of total expenses (18%) than any other state school in Ohio. Our enrollment continues to increase at a time where most Ohio universities' enrollments are either dropping or staying firm. We have seen the construction of new buildings on campus, such as the Bowen-Thompson student union and I think Olscamp Hall, as well as renovations in Founders, Kohl, and other buildings. All this has been done without a major budget crisis during a time where the State of Ohio has drastically reduced funding to colleges.

And you'd rather fire Sidney Ribeau?

:x
