BG outshot 39 - 21. Held to single digits in every period. 8-5-6-2.

Svendsen 1 goal, 1 assist
McIlrath 1 goal, 1 assist
Nesdill and Unger with 1 assist each.

Spratt with 37 saves. Good effort from Jimmy.

The lack of shots again is definitely frustrating, but there were long stretches there where they were playing like they did last night at the start of the 2nd. A lot of intensity, a little less conservative, crashing the net... I don't know. Where is that most of the time?

Speaking of the net... anyone else notice Rogers giving the net a bit of a shove every time we got deep in their zone? I know it's necessary to check the posts and get your positioning straight, but this seemed like a little more. Specifically, the possession right before the goal that got waved off, as we were skating in, he backed up and gave it a bit of a shrug, lifting it a good couple of inches off the ice.

Maybe I'm making stuff up, but it seemed like the combination of that and the number of times his net was off was more than coincidence.

On another note, it was cool to have the whole crowd singing along with "Sweet Caroline" and then the A-Band (and clapping for them) between the 2nd and 3rd period tonight. I just wish a little more of that noise had carried over into the OT, when the entire side opposite the benches was seated and (seemingly) silent.

Tell me more about this goal that was waved off. What happened?

Gametracker was real goofy about that. It was Unger with about 6 min left, right?

I think so. My brain is a bit scrambled, so all the details are a bit fuzzy, but I think it may have been a wraparound (to the side facing the student section) and it looked like it was in from our side (and yes, I am biased.), but the net was off from the far-post-peg. They called it a goal, but it never went up on the board. Wilkins reviewed it and waved it off. I have no idea if it was really off first or not, but I did see Rogers bump the net up a few times throughout the game.

Now, before anyone else joins in and calls me childish for making excuses, understand that I'm not doing that at all, I'm just telling what I saw.

Sounds like a certain U of M net minder from my time.

Sharples or something. If I remember correctly, he was pretty good at knocking the posts off when he was in a bind.

The goal that got waved off was a wrap around to the band side. I sit in the corner right in front of the band so I had the best seat in the house for that shot. It was a goal six days a week. I couldn't believe the referee had the balls to do that here two nights in row on the same exact bogus call. That shot was in long before Rogers shoved the net out of place. Infuriating. The officiating was lousy both ways tonight, and is was to the point at the end of the game that it could have become dangerous. The deliberate slashing and hooking moves from both teams were getting out of hand.

We arrived at the game at the beginning of the second period. Our son had a BGHS JV game up at Tam-0 before that (BG won it!). What I saw was a team that played their hearts out when they were getting hosed by Wilkins, that oh-so-stellar ref!! :smt078 We had 3 five on threes in that game and killed them ALL OFF!! This against the #1 PP in the league!! I did see a few moments where I was wondering what the heck they were doing, but oveall, they played hard, battled hard and earned the tie against a lot that was seemingly against them!!! I am very proud of the guys and their effort!!!

I'm proud of our guys tonight. It was a good game. And yea, I kept my eye on Rogers specifically and watched him run that net. It made me furious...no wonder he's supposed to be really good. That's what he does I'm guessing. Anyway, I thought the Student Section was amazing tonight with all of the chanting & togetherness. It really was a great game to witness.

Tonight's game could easily be titled "The Wilkins personal vendetta against Michael Hodgson and Jeremy Bronson presented by the Alaska School for Theatrics!"

Yea, that's pretty much amazing and rather accurate.

There was a guy from Ferris State that used to do that all the time too. Falcon Fanatic would remember his name. He was quite tall and all he had to do was stand up and knock the net off. If I remember, he didn't get called for it a whole lot either.
