Predictions v. ND

Post by Lsquared »

needless to say, this weekend is gonna be tough. ill be happy if we keep these games close so everyone stays for the end of the games. spratt has done nothing but get better. lets see if he can play his best weekend of hockey as a falcon. if the falcons come out and play hard and at 100% we can keep it within reach and maybe pull one out but that's doubtful seeing how well notre dame has played this year. i just hate the irish and would love to see us win one. my heart says we'll pull one out but my brain is telling me probably not. ill go with ND 5-3, 4-2. prove me wrong falcons.

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE IRISH!!!!!!!!!!

Notre Dame fans are already talking about NCAA seedings. If the team is doing the same, we will definately know this weekend. On paper it looks like two easy wins for Notre Dame. In reality, it is Bowling Green so nothing on paper will make sense this weekend.

I think we might get blown out in one of the games, but just might pull the other one out, depends a lot on who's wearing the orange armbands (sad, but true). ND is very beatable even though they are the #2 team in the country. Gives even more motivation.

Let's get real here. I think we will lose both games. Let's hope we can atleast keep one of the games close. We are one of the worst teams in the nation.

The outcome of this weekend has nothing to do with who is wearing the orange band on there arm. You can have the worst refs and linesman in the world and it does not matter. Stop blaming the refs. The reason we will lose this weekend is because ND is a top team in the country and we are a bottom team. The truth is that we can not beat anyone. whether they are a top team or a bottom team it really does not matter. It may hurt to hear it but it is the truth. This team has no motivation. There motivation is getting the season over with so they don't have to see Paluch everyday and listen to him talk. I do not seeus winning another game for the rest of the season. I would be shocked if we did.

Actually, you are wrong about this. I've been around college hockey a lot longer than you have. I will say right now that if we have a ref that is inconsistant with his calls, we will lose. A penalty on one team should be a penalty on the other. That is rarely the case. If it's called on one team, it needs to be called on the other every time (both teams).

Agreed blaming the refs in college athletics is comical.

Maybe you should blame our PP which is clicking around 5%.

Should the Flyers blame the refs becaue they are having a terrible season, if you look at any parrallel you will quickly see how terrible the reasoning is.

I am not blaming our horrible season completely on the refs. BG plays a very clean game, but usually ends up with the same amount of penalty minutes as the other team. Go to every game and draw your own conclusions.

PDT-

You can tell that you are a seasoned college hockey veteran with the insight that you provide for us. With your college hockey resume, maybe you should wear the orange bands, or maybe even replace Paloooch.

About the only time the refs are truly a factor is if we are playing Michigan, and Wilkins is reffing.

If we had good refs, we would probably be 22-6.

Let me ask you this, how many times have you seen a penalty on one team not called on the other? How many games end with the exact same number of powerplays for both teams? Coincidence?

As for replacing Paluch, after spending 7 years involved with almost all aspects of college hockey except playing I chose to take a career path outside of college hockey.

Give PDT a little credit

He's probably seen more hockey over the years than 90% of you. I still tend to downplay the refs costing us games, since we have so many other short-comings..

My heart tells me we can pull a win this weekend, and I'm listening, damn it.
We've had periods where we show some real flashes of possibility. Who knows. Spratt's going to have to play the weekend of his life and our STs are going to really have to tighten up, but after all the crap that's been talked, I hope our boys go out there and step it up and try to play up to the level of the competition. I hope the crowd is big and becomes a factor as well.

To say "the truth is that we can not beat anyone" at all is a joke. Yeah, we've had some very awful games, and our season is going very poorly, but we DO have a few wins and some really bright spots.

Like I said, it'll take a lot, the cards are stacked heavily against us, but there's always a possibility.

I'll agree with that. The cards are totally stacked against us and it breaks my heart that people say we can't beat anyone. Sure, we haven't had the best season... or close to it... but we have so many bright spots and bright players. I just want people to have faith in the team, whether they're playing #2 or #10

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to the games. We are playing the #2 ranked team in the country. This game should be a sell out, no questions asked. If any other sport were playing the #2 team in the nation, everybody in town would be in attendance. I don't quite understand why people do not appreciate the caliber of teams that the hockey program competes against week-in and week-out.

That wasn't directed toward anyone on here, I know that you all are very strong supporters.

It just amazes me that we can't draw people to games against top teams in the country.

Something that was very noticeable when we played in South Bend this season was that ND could practically (strike that, they actually) walked over our blue line to set up power plays. As long as we can stay away from 2-men down penalty kills, maybe we can manage that challenge.
The Irish are having a great year, but if BG can stay strong for three periods, there's still a chance.
Most of our injured players are good to go this weekend. I hope we have all lines clicking.
Should be a noisy arena for a change.
