Bitter Sweet....BGSU 3-Michigan 2

Sweet:
The Falcons power play goal with 35 seconds remaining in the 3rd gets a big win tonight. Only the 4th win in the CCHA this year compliments of Jimmy Spratt.

Bitter:
Eddie Neville has been dismissed from the team potentially the "scapegoat" for the team's drunken antics last Saturday night. When Paluch asked those involved to come forward, non of the offending player or captains had the ba**s to come forward. Getting rid of Neville is obviously a way to clear a spot for the recruit from the NTDP for next season.

Paluch and everyone else on the team knows who was involved but character is not a strong point with this team or the coaches.

boy you got it all wrong. It's a private team matter but this dismissal is completely warranted.

With all the alcohol related problems in college hockey this year at BU, North Dakota, Minnesota last year, you would think that our underage players would not be allowed in bars. I know and have seen on any given nite and almost every nite in the summer underage players boozing at Ziggys.

With the hazing incident and problems we have had stealing bikes etc recently you think Pooch could at least keep the unders out of the bars and convince the guys that are legal to be somewhat responsible.

I cant comment on this dismissal but in years passed Pooch has used alcohol and curfews or a simple lockerroom arguments as means to dismiss players he didnt want. Has anyone ever heard of Horner, Pappas, or Leonard, there are more.

Now you decide whats worse and underage, disorderly conduct arrest or a 30 minute curfew violation at a hotel unrelated to alcohol?

The inner workings of this program might be worse than Enron.

Heyman can you expand on your comment at least in general terms, you sound like a coach.

I love the "we'll handle it internally" line. What if I go out and get a disorderly conduct of public intoxication, can my dad handle the punishment internally. "Dont take make him pay a fine, Ill punish him at home"

I guess everybody around here is starting to sound like a coach

What he means is that if it's a violation of team rules, it will be handled by the team. It doesn't need to be put forth in front of the public, because it is not a public manner. It is a team manner and will be handled as such. If someone got arrested then it becomes a public manner. Until then, it will remain within the team.

I don't know what happened. Do I want to know what happened? Not really. It doesn't affect me one way or another. I mean, yeah, it'd be nice to know and all, but it's basically a need to know kinda thing. Those that need to know, do. Those that don't need to know, shouldn't.

Couple of things:

1) Keep it a touch more civil. This board has been better of late. Let's not letter it slump back down into the bowels of hell.

2) To be fair, FalconBlue has been more of a "statement of fact" individual than many others on this board. He does apply some personal observation (such as this case), but if you don't like it, apply your personal ignore button.

So Neville was dismissed for grades, alcohol?

We dont need a 3 pg document, Im just wondering why he was kicked off the team, but like I said before, if its kept in house it always seems fishy. When its kept private it often times does not warrant a dismissal because other current players have done the same thing with less consequences.

Falcon hockey players drinking???? I'm shocked, shocked. Round up the usual suspects!

It's been a tradition since the days of Jack Vivian, et al, even if Dr. Sam Copper didn't believe it ever happened.

Count me as an old timer so spoiled that a .500 season was once serious cause for concern. Shoe me a competitive team and I'll find my way back to the arena.

Over the last two weeks, despite the poor play of the irish and weasles, has been 'shoed'.

Skate with the Falcons was a lot of fun! Good turnout and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves!! I wish I knew who you were, I would have like to chat with you!!!! I was standing in the Falcon box taking pics!! And you're right, they are a GREAT bunch of guys!! If we continue to play as well as we have the last few weeks, we will be the team that NO ONE wants to host in the playoffs!! Given the way the season has gone, that's good place to be in the stretch run!!!

GO ICERS!!
SWEEEEEEEEEEEP THE BULLDOGS!!

I agree about the Skate with the Falcons. It was a lot of fun and I ice skated for the first time since I was in second grade I believe. Kai helped me so I didn't crash and burn like I thought I would. :) It was a good turnout and I got a LOT of really good pictures of the boys.
