FSU 5 – BGSU 2

FSU 5 – BGSU 2

Another inept performance by the BGSU Falcons basically ensures Scott Paluch a place in infamy in BGSU hockey lore. The win against Michigan was an aberration rather than a sign of success to come.
It was hard to believe Paluch allowed the lack of discipline shown by the Falcon players from Schmidt’s interference call at 4:37 in the 1st, until Tim Maxwell’s tripping call at 16:57 of the 3rd the Falcon’s were always at a disadvantage.

Adam Miller’s empty net “hat trick” goal at 19:40 in the 3rd finally doomed BGSU to another weekend sweep by their opponents.

Only Kai Kantola’s unassisted goal towards the end of the 2nd period gave hope that the Falcon’s would rise to the occasion in the 3rd but alas once again they came up short.
Four 3rd period penalties put an end to a dismal night and a less than stellar performance by Spratt (tired after Friday night), the defense and the exceptionally inept forwards.

Matsumoto had 2 shots and was -2 for the night, Whitmore 2 shots and -1. Brandon Svendsen had a goal from 5 shots and was +2 for the night. He was almost invisible until the end of the 3rd.
I am being harsh and I’m sure my friend Bleeding Orange will not agree, but the only word that comes to mind to describe tonight’s effort is:

in·ept
Adjective

Definition:

1. Unable to handle job: lacking the competence or skill for a particular task

2. Totally inappropriate: not in keeping with what is right or proper for the circumstances

You gotta feel bad for jimmy the way he has stepped it up the last 3 or 4 weeks when he continues to get the same kind of play in front of him

Yes I agree Falcon Blue that some will come on this thread in the morning and complain that this is the same old, same old, well guess what folks this is the hockey forum, if we are not supposed to talk about the current season what are we supposed to talk about on here.

It is really starting to piss me off how BG is starting to gain the reputation as being one of the worst places to play in the CCHA. Maybe we can win some recruiting battles with Wayne St in the offseason to get some undersized forwards.

Wasn't at the game, but I am guessing that the outcome was due to bad refs.

Another painful loss. I love this team, I'm still going to all the games, and I still support BG hockey no matter what, but it still hurts.

I just don't get why we come out on fire against ND and UM, but against Ferris State we came out flat. It's sad to see.

I swear I was about to lose it in the second when we hit, what was it, 5 posts in the course of about 10 minutes? What the hell! So frustrating. I know nobody likes hearing "we just didn't get the bounces we needed", but I can't help wishing those post hits had been just a bit more inside. A 'PING!' is only satisfying when a goal follows. Otherwise it's mind-numbing.

I also liked the fact that we kept attacking and trying to score late in the game, even responding quickly after their 4th. Just too little too late in that department.

I don't really know what to say, other than the fact that I hope we step it up and kick the crap out of the egg-suckers next weekend. If we come out with the intensity we had against ND and UM, I have no doubt in my mind that we can beat them, it all just depends on which team steps on the ice.

MSU is currently on a 4 game winless steak. It started with a tie against scUM, followed by a loss to FSU on Tuesday, and then they got swept by Western this weekend. They are very beatable at this time.

I'll assume that was directed at me. I wasn't at either game and didn't have the opportunity to listen to the games either, so I won't comment. Although, anytime you see the name Shegos...... :-D

Yes, anytime you see Shegos, you can expect one of the best officiated games in the conference...there's a reason he's had so many NCAA championship games...

Go Falcons!
