FSU 5 – BGSU 2
Another inept performance by the BGSU Falcons basically ensures Scott Paluch a place in infamy in BGSU hockey lore. The win against Michigan was an aberration rather than a sign of success to come.
It was hard to believe Paluch allowed the lack of discipline shown by the Falcon players from Schmidt’s interference call at 4:37 in the 1st, until Tim Maxwell’s tripping call at 16:57 of the 3rd the Falcon’s were always at a disadvantage.
Adam Miller’s empty net “hat trick” goal at 19:40 in the 3rd finally doomed BGSU to another weekend sweep by their opponents.
Only Kai Kantola’s unassisted goal towards the end of the 2nd period gave hope that the Falcon’s would rise to the occasion in the 3rd but alas once again they came up short.
Four 3rd period penalties put an end to a dismal night and a less than stellar performance by Spratt (tired after Friday night), the defense and the exceptionally inept forwards.
Matsumoto had 2 shots and was -2 for the night, Whitmore 2 shots and -1. Brandon Svendsen had a goal from 5 shots and was +2 for the night. He was almost invisible until the end of the 3rd.
I am being harsh and I’m sure my friend Bleeding Orange will not agree, but the only word that comes to mind to describe tonight’s effort is:
in·ept
Adjective
Definition:
1. Unable to handle job: lacking the competence or skill for a particular task
2. Totally inappropriate: not in keeping with what is right or proper for the circumstances
