If we end up going to Columbus, I hope you're right about the venue. But here's what Markell said during a USCHO chat:
"Bill (Pickerington): Since both the Schottenstein Center and Nationwide arena are occupied in two weeks, where will the playoffs be? Has that been determined yet?
John Markell: We will be playing at the OSU Ice Rink, our former home."

Bill-
Did he really say that they would play the games at the old rink?
That would make for interesting playoff games. There is about 10 feet from blue line to blue line in the neutral zone. If we ended up playing OSU, and it is at the old rink, I think that it would maybe be an advantage for us.
I would think that the fairgrounds would be a better venue.

Do they still have ice there? That made for some great old time hockey.

Markell said "OSU Ice Rink", and the osu hockey website has the same thing. I just don't think it's going to be fair to those fans who would like to go to the games but there's not enough room for them.

I just checked the OSU website and the location is TBA. The press release says the same thing. However, their Women's Gymnastic team has a meet on 3/3 at St. John's, so moving the wrestling tournament's a no.
still looks dinky to me

Wow, it's hard to believe they'd really play in the old dink. I THOUGHT my info source on moving the wrestle meet to St John's was reliable. What's that place hold 1800?

1800 really skinny people maybe....I thought it held around 1500!!
The old ice dink brings back a lot fun memories!!! Remember the game when Welsh was pissed that his bucks were losing, so he had the refs check Connell's stick? It had too much of a curve on it and he had to serve a 10 min (I think) penalty. We had to put in a cold goalie and I think we lost the game....not sure, about that part though! Also remember when we scored two short handed goals in the same 5:3 penalty??? I did hate watching games in there though. The glass was so scratched up you couldn't see through it, especially at an angle while trying to look down the ice.

I think we will wind up playing UNO first round.
WMU or UNO

Western Michigan in fifth right now, 3 points ahead of Nebraska-Omaha. UNO is still playing Friday, ahead 1-0 five minutes into their game at Fairbanks.
If UNO loses tonight, we're in Kalamazoo. If not, we'll know tomorrow.
update: 1-1 halfway first period in Fairbanks
UNO wins 4-3...

UNO wins 4-3 on Friday night.
I believe that leaves WMU with 29 points and UNO with 28. I guess we'll have to wait until possibly after 1AM on Sunday morning to find out if the team will be flying or taking a bus to their first round games! Western could make it an earlier night by winning tomorrow night!
GO FALCONS!

If UNO beats out WMU for the 5th slot, we're cooked. Nebraska-Omaha KILLED us every time we played them this season. They outscored us 20-3 in the four games! Not to mention that UNO kicked our ass in the playoffs last year.
Meanwhile, we dropped a 5-1 decision on WMU. I know who I'd want to play.
