I am new at this and am enjoying these forums. Now I can finally get this question answered. I am always interested in player's backgrounds as well as their athletic accomplishments, so can someone answer me: Todd McIlrath has an Irish name and looks Oriental (Korean?) and Jonathan Matsumoto has a Japanese name but does not look like he has any Japanese blood. What's the scoop? My question about Kai Kantola and his Finnish background was answered in some articles I found about him online. Interesting knowing these guys as more than hockey players.

Todd was adopted at avery young age by Bill and Penny McIlrath.
Penny says that he was on skates at age 2.
Jonathan is the son of Nelson and Winara Matsumoto. Yes, Nelson is Japanese, Winara is Canadian.
