Jordan puts up another stellar performance in goal for the Providence Bruins. You wouldn't believe this, but this was only Jordan's second start since February! No he hasn't been hurt, he's been playing back-up to Hannu Toivenan (sp?). Actually, through the season, Jordan's had a much better record than Toivenan, but the Bruins have alot more invested in him, so they figure he has to play. Bull**** if you ask me, but what can you do.
Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins earned their second straight shutout, blanking the top-ranked Manchester Monarchs 1-0 in overtime Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center to conclude the regular season. The victory, coming in front of 7,615 fans, pushes the P-Bruins' 2006-07 regular season record to 44-30-2-4 and 94 points, tied for the third highest total in the franchise's 15 seasons. Jordan Sigalet earned his third shutout of the year with 23 saves in only his second appearance in net since late February. The lone goal went to defenseman Jason Platt, his first at the American Hockey League level this year, after joining the team only hours before the game. Most notably, with the win, Providence now knows it will face the Hartford Wolf Pack in the opening round of the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Following a scoreless first 60 minutes between Sigalet and Monarchs netminder Yutaka Fukufuji, the P-Bruins decided the game 2:47 into overtime when forward Marco Rosa drifted to the deep corner with the puck in his offensive end and fed the biscuit to a cutting Platt in front. Platt, who had previously been with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL, tallied the winner with the lone helper going to Rosa, another former ECHL transplant. Rosa began the year with the Texas Wildcatters but notched his ninth assist and 17th point of his AHL season.
