NHL Lockout?

I have been extremely busy over the past few weeks. Has there been any progress on the NHL lockout?
I miss seeing my Sens on Hockey Night in Canada...
Some of my favorite nights are those that I can go to the Ice Arena, watch us kill a CCHA opponent and then going home and watching HNIC. I must admit life does feel a bit empty...

Unless you've been busy since before September 9th, then no. The players supposedly met this past Tuesday in Canada, but I haven't heard if anything came out of that. I know they haven't met with the owners in almost 2 months and its getting ridiculous. (Or more ridiculous. Or even "ridiculouser". Or....
)

That's about what I expected. It's unbelievable how sad and pathetic a showing this is for the sport. I just hope that NCAA hockey - men's and women's - can gain some ground on the gluttonous NHL.

P.S. - why the heck haven't we started a varsity women's hockey program? We could gain on title IX and get a program that has some of the best action in women's sports. Just food for thought (I smell a movement...).

I know for a fact that there's a women's club team, the biggest issue is cost.

Several players have mentioned that they are willing to cross the picket line and come back to play with a salary cap, even a hard cap. The union has to be crapping itself right about now.

I agree...this has got to end. I've never been to an NHL game, but being a Chicagoan, there hasn't been too much to see since the mid-90's when we lost Roenick, Chellios, and Belfour. Either way, its really hard for me to justify $40 for one game. Jeff

One of the things I like about Nationwide Arena in Columbus is that you can get pretty good seats in the upper bowl for $17-$22. You're up a ways, but you really don't notice it.
In general, though, you're right. ALL pro sports tickets are out of control.

Pro sports are killing themselves. If I am correct, college sports are cutting into their market share, particularly NCAA basketball. I can't back that with fact, but I seem to remember a news story on NPR a few years ago during March Madness to that effect. I know I personally have moved further and further away from watching or going to pro events.
