New Seating Chart?

Post by Tech83 »

Just went on-line to checking out the seating chart for the Ice Arena.......

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/bgu ... eArena.pdf

Section A and H are no longer General Admission (Student) sections.
WHAT THE #$%#@&!!!!!!! When did this happen? I mean - I know I didn't make a game at BG last year - but is this new this year? What student wants to sit in the North Stands? Talk about ripping up tradition. Who wants to pay $9 to sit in at the end of the rink.

end of rant.

This was the set up for all last season as well. The students sit in section "E".

Actually that pi$$e$ me off more, because I LIKE to sit in the end up high, , but am not really interested if there are all students there. This makes it interesting, because the end is also where many of the BG's coaches sit to watch a game. If you like to watch the play develop, the END is the place to be. I bet the pro scouts that often sit there won't be too excited to have a bunch of students sitting there either! It also won't look very good on TV if we have a smaller crowd with only half of the sides full. Doesn't make much sense to me. Someone probably made this decision that has never been to a BG hockey game!

Last year Sections A and H were for sure GA. I sat in th top row in Sec A every game. I think it stinks that they aren't GA this year, as I don't like sitting behind the goals, as I know many others don't either. I don't go to enough games to get season tix, but I go to enough games where the $3 differene to still sit there is tough. Not to mention the "big name" games are jacked up $3 a ticket. All well. Beat ND!

Should be A, D, E & H for students but the campus doesn't love the hockey like they once did. Hopefully we again have some players the campus will follow again.

Go Icers.

I have said for years that the expansion of the ice arena killed our hockey program more than anything. All the traditions quickly left when this happened. A ticket was never tough to get anymore and you never had to wait in line before the games which was a great way to get fans fired up. They switched the benches as well which took the opposing goalie away from the Section A and H rowdies.

Well, at least now the ugly goalie is back in the pit for two periods.
We tend to get spoiled to the point of being picky about seating. If you could get any of the Ice Arena seats in an NHL arena you'd be thrilled (and broke)!
It is true that the expansion hasn't worked out as hoped, even under Jerry. Interesting that Miami's new house doesn't seat all that many, around 3,000 as I recall.

Of course - you season ticket holders never have to worry about a bad seat

Bill, I don't know where you sat last year at Goggin last year (I remember you follow the team pretty well). We sat opposite of the benches - down near the corner @ the aisle - not very good seats for a new arena. I sat cock-eyed in my chair all night so I could watch the game properly. So I can only be 1/2 positive about the new Goggin. Those seats should have never been installed or designed. Maybe it was how the aisle was placed forcing the view to be skewed. But your right - Goggin seats just above 3,000 and the students have to get there early to get the seats dedicated to them. (That's how we saw the MSU-Miami game last year - students had not returned to campus and the school opened ticket sales.)

I have yet to sit in north stands at BG - probably cause I want to keep my hearing and try not to sit next to the band .

I just order seats for Section H to insure we get the seats we like.
