"THE CARD"

Will whoever prints these things please remove Michigan's goal chant and replace it with ours. I realize that the card says "A guide to NEW Falcon Athletic Traditions," but what's wrong with ours? Goal count, WE WANT MORE repeated 3 times, GOAL GOAL GOAL getting faster while pointing at the opposing team's goalie. It's simple, to the point, and it's OURS! If someone feels we need to change it, at least make something up that's original.

I haven't seen the card yet, but if I were you I would send an e-mail to Pooch. Since he did play for BG I am sure he would understand the importance of our original cheer as opposed to trying to imitate the scUM from up north. I would actually copy Pooch on that e-mail and actually send it to the AD and the marketing department. That keeps everyone in the loop.

Could you please explain how the U of M chant is a modified versionof ours!! I was raised on 1-2-3 (or how many ever goals), we want more, we want more, we want more, goal, goal, goal, (or go, go, go). When did we ever say goalie, sieve and a string of expletives like U of M does?

the scum had no cheer, they took ours and morphed it in to that.

wasn't there already a thread about this

I have said it before and I'll say it again, a card will not tell me what chants to do. If you don't like the cards don't take them, or place them in the trash after you get.

"The Card" is lame. Traditions and fans' enthusiasm can't be manufactured by the marketing department. Also, introducing the intermission entertainment guy as "Brian (whatever) from Marketing" is bizarre.

I received a reply to my 5 paragraph email I sent to Mr. Christopher.
Drew, thanks for your note. Regards, Greg Christopher
A bit frustrating.

I'd love to tell you that my first name has never been misspelled.

But then I'd be lying.

Back to the topic, I didn't expect him to write me a flowing soliloquy about how much he wants to offer me a position in Student Relations (which I would take, btw). I did kind of expect more of a response than one sentence, though. I'll chalk this one up to just being a D1 AD who doesn't have a lot of free time.

But that is tradition, the three years I have been here that is how the marketing person has been introduced. Gotta keep with tradition :-D

Yeah, I'd mark it in that column, too. I've had similar experiences with e-mails I've sent off to GC or coaches. They're busy folks, I'm sure they take more time with many of the emails than the replies show.

"New tradition" cards aside, I think GC has done a pretty good job of getting the pulse of the fan base and tweaking accordingly.
