When did we become UNO's rival?
..and for that matter, when did we become the weasels BROTHERS???
...and the personal shots at BUddy and masters? wtf? turns out, YOU'RE NEBRASKA-OMAHA YOU ARENT A HOCKEY POWER HOUSE AND YOU NEVER WILL BE. So stop talking like it.
"better come out with at least 3 points"
my response to this is, be ready for a let down cows, you are about to be swept.

We have asked ourselves these questions for several years now. In the first series the two schools ever played, we were in their barn. Apparently Scott Hewson took a shot at one of their players then Doug Schueller "raised the roof" when we beat them and from then to the present, we have been their biggest rivals. Or at least that is the way they see it. About their hatred for Buddy, I have never figured that one out. Most of our fans don't even know that UNO exists since they have only played at our place one series. We have been out there over and over and over again. For some reason whoever schedules the CCHA games doesn't seem to realize this  So every year, we put up with their crap--especially from AJ. And I'm sure he is reading this. It will be interesting to see if he acknowledges the fact.BGSUfanatUT wrote:When did we become UNO's rival?

DUH mavs
Well stated, FindlayFalcon!! The mav fans are quite clueless in MANY ways. They came into this league and did well the first few years, and therefore, felt some kind of feeling of entitlement towards the league. They have invented this "rivalry" between the mavs and BG. It only exists in their puny minds. If you read the USCHO board, there is a lengthy thread that started when they played in Alaska last week (and got swept, btw
) that talks about a so-called rivalry with the Nanooks. The mav morons kept going on and on about how it can't be a rivalry, they haven't been in the league long enough, bla, bla, bla....the same stuff we have said to them about our so-called rivalry!! And they think calling us tootsie rolls is such a huge put down.
They are planning all kinds of abuse for the boys when they go out to Omaha this weekend ("sharpie, anyone?") so I hope the guys who read this board (and I know there are a few) take that information and use it as the bulletin board fodder it is!! Nothing would make me happier than to sweep them and not only for the league standings, but to also shut them up!!
GO ICERS!!!
SWEEEEEEP DUH mavs!!!!!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I believe the rivalry comes from their first meeting when he stated something to the effect that he "hated" playing at UNO.
They are very avid fans. Fairly knowledgable as well. They're beginning to "let it go" but it's been a long time coming.
They call us tootsie rolls because the road uni used to be all brown.

It's a figment of their imagination!!
Many of their fans are avid, but many are NOT that knowedgable. And WE used to call our brown unis TOOTSIE ROLLS!! They can't get it through their heads that it ISN'T a put-down!! Like I said before, THEY think it's a rivalry, no one here does. They need to get out of the past, thinking our squad is nothing but goons and thugs...which they are going to find out is NOT true (and never was!).Rightupinthere wrote:I believe the rivalry comes from their first meeting when he stated something to the effect that he "hated" playing at UNO.
