Post by Falconboy »

BG scored 3 goals in the 1st period , got cold in the 2nd , let NMU get back in it then scored the security goal late in the 3rd by Whitmore. Lets get the sweep tomorrow night! :D

Saw that the attendance for tonight's game was 2,074 :( . I was hoping it would have been a bit more than that, what with the way our team is playing. Oh well, maybe it's going to take a tad longer for people/students to start believing. I'm getting real close myself and will be there tomorrow with family. Can't wait!!!

I just brought up this point in the other thread. Most of our alumni base probably doesn't realize that the team is good yet. If we keep winning, I think we're going to see some sellouts before the year is through, especially for scUM, Miami, and the egg suckers.

The concert bands probably had a marginal affect on attendance tonight also. Many of us in the bands are the steams best supporters and we had other obligations this evening. We'll be out in force tomorrow night though!

Cold is putting it nicely. We played the best half game I have ever seen. That's the first period and the last half of the third. I was absolutely in awe at how the team was playing. I'm not exactly sure what happened in the second period, but I'm glad to see them step it up after they got their goals. If we can play an entire game the way we played the first period, very few teams will be able to beat us. It's great to see that Paluch finally has players with the right attitudes and speed to make his systems work.

Where are the students? This alumni drove up from Lima with his son and was amazed on how few students were there. Maybe 200 - 300? Did Thanksgiving break start early?

The current students were never around for the glory years. It's going to take consistent winning to get them back.

The time when the hockey game was the thing to do on a weekend night is no longer. It can come back, but it will take time.

I myself was excited at about that gritty, non-stop action of this years Falcons! A lot better than the last few years. Not the biggest team, but was amazed on how the Falcons got to the puck first in so many situations! And they didn't back down from hitting somebody bigger.

RUIT, one thing I noticed last night was that a great number of students were sitting outside the student section. A big number were behind the goal and a few were on the opposite side as well. It seems to me that quite a few of my fellow students don't want to stand for the whole game.

Now that's not to say that the student attendance was great, it wasn't. Lack of knowledge of the team as well as lack of quality opponent were the likely factors. Once we play some schools that most people recognize, then student attendance will likely improve. Ask any student about Northern Michigan University, they'll probably tell you they've never heard of it.

I agree, that and a LOT of students already left for break. I'm an RA and almost all of my residents left already. I did see a lot of students sitting behind the goal and across from the student section.
