congrats
congrats
Just wanted to throw out there a serious congratulations to the team for doing something that had not been done in past six year (or more) and that was not only winning a playoff round but winning a playoff game.
The boys should be very proud of themselves for their accomplishments!!! I am not giving any credit to the coach cause I am sure by now that everyone knows where I stand on this issue. Although I have noticed some maturing qualities from him (ie.. not worrying about facial hair) It seems as though he is taking it easier on the players about things that don't make a difference with the hockey. Good on him for that.
I would also like to respond to DannyK for being the most gutless poster on this forum. You have got some real balls calling me out like that. It is clear when looking at my stats that it wasn't the glorious career I thought it was going to be. But when junior year is completely shot with mono and in 4(3) years of playing you only see 30seconds of PP. It is tough to put up points. At that point you have to play a role if you want to play at all. I believe I did what I had to do to play and that is supported by the "most improved player of the year" award I got. That would also justify when I say that even though I hated my coach, I busted my a$$. Its sure easy to throw stones over the internet and yet I must have missed the time where you played NCAA hockey. Thats enough.
Again I want to say congrats to all players and if you ask many of them they will tell you that I have called them up already to do so. Good luck fellas keep it rollin.
PS... don't worry about responses from here on in or when will I be back on cause me and Macman had a deal.
See ya everyone

Yea, I think Big Dog's banning is a bit harsh. He has to be a cynic that Alberta oil gets to your brain. I love seeing people post that stir things up it just makes things more interesting.

Yeah, Bigdog. You were wrong. Big whoop. I wasn't going to say anything to either of you until after the season ended, but that bet you and MACMAN made was simply stupid. No one should ever feel that they need to stay away from this board for being wrong. Hell, if that were the case, I probably wouldn't have made it ten posts on this board before I was banished to the wilderness. Quite frankly, I'm glad you were wrong, for reasons that I think should be obvious, but you shouldn't feel you need to stay away from here. You gave more to BGSU than most students do in their 4-6 years.
The past few years - some would argue longer - have pretty much sucked for this program, with just a few bright spots. Hopefully winning this series is a signal of things turning around for this program and this coach. Don't ruin it with this petty garbage. MACMAN, if you have any integrity at all you'll settle this thing like an adult, in public, for all to see. I think it'd make a lot of us feel better.

Bigdog is apparently Ryan Barrnet (or is it Barrett?) who played hockey for BG several years back. Bigdog has made it widely known that he doesn't particularly care for Coach Paluch for reasons I still don't quite understand.cph2133 wrote:Am i the only person completely lost as to who bigdog is, and what the heck is going on here?

MACMAN
hes is not banned folks.
and I have no control over if he posts or not, in the end I dont even really care, esp if his posts come out like this, and not every word spoken as if the team sucks and the coaches are crap, because they are not, they are very good, just as BD was a good enough player to make a D1 program, who in the compression of those players good enough, was not good enough by comparison to be more utilized it happens, it is life.
We all need to deal with it and move on.
on a fan board like this Orange tinted glasses are expected, even appreciated cause we all like the same thing, crazed unwarranted negativity, and personal vindieta are not.
sure we will get upset with stuff and coaches at times and it needs to be expressed, but its not an all the time thing. We are very fortunate to have this Coach and these coaches I think this staff has that special chemistry now to make a real difference in this program, im not saying Rf an dothers where not good coaches, cause they were, but I dont think they were the right coaches. I think we have that now, and I think we have the right players. Im not going to predict a National Championship for next year or anything like it, i think we could end up the regular season a bit higher, but I look for much of repeat of this very good season.
In the end BD sat down at the table and had the guts to take a chance and go all in, its not stupid, its an admirable quality. Stay or go BD I dont care, but if you stay i hope you can at least keep the negativity down.

integrity is the basing of one's actions on an internally consistent framework of principles. Im not lacking in that area at all thank you, I took a stand for a team...including the coaches and their methodologies. bigdog did the same.
as for settling this matter out in the open...whats to settle, rightupinthere said at the start the board did not sanction it and that no one would be banned. bigdog and I have or had polar positions on this team, and the coaching. what i saw this past summer was well an upper midlevel team, was I right. in the end yes we finished in the upper midlevel of the CCHA, I thought we would have the year before as well but illness and injury prevented that, and a reasonable shot. could I have been wrong this year too, you bet, we pulled out some real squeakers that could have gone the other way. in the end I believe in this team, I have since I was young, my first sports hero's were all Falcon hockey players...the last few years Ive known what it must be like to be a Browns fan. My integrity does not allow for me to sit by and read or listen to someone, including a former player bash this team.
Yea from what has been written about BD and his carerr and his stats etc, I can see how he would be upset, its the nature of competitiveness. I just think that with his bagage and frustration he started posting on a fan forum to soon, he was still to close to his frustration. Seemingly from the above its better...but again I have no control over him posting or not.
should he go to honor the bet?
well he said was therefore what I say will fall upon deaf ears or blind eyes...but of course not. He can post anything he wants I have no control of that...i will how ever stand fast and hold my ground for my team.

Du hockey comme dans le temps!
What? We're compressing players now? I knew some of the players on the team were on the smaller side for college hockey, but we're making them that way nowMACMAN wrote: just as BD was a good enough player to make a D1 program, who in the compression of those players good enough, was not good enough by comparison to be more utilized it happens, it is life.

Bigdog,
Thanks for being a loyal falcon. You could have come back your Senior year and claimed to still be sick with mono;
you busted your ass and played well your Senior year.
With 39 goals and 80 pts in the juniors, why you had so few PP minutes I do not know; Jon Mazzei also had 90 pts in the BCHL and was not on the BG PP.
Thank you for your heartfelt critic of the program by a player that was in the middle of it.
