CCHA standings predictions

Post by rood »

Make your predictions now for how the conference standings will finish. Explanations are optional.

1. Michigan
2. Notre Dame
3. Michigan State
4. Northern Michigan
5. BGSU
6. Miami
7. Nebraska-Omaha
8. Ferris State
9. Ohio State
10. Lake Superior
11. Alaska
12. Western Michigan

I'm pretty confident about 1 and 2. Red always finds a way to come out on top and Notre Dame had the fewest significant departures of any of the top teams. MSU lost a lot but they still have Little Lerg in net and great goaltending can carry you pretty far. 4 through 6 is a toss up but NMU blew me away at Joe Louis last season and Miami got smoked on graduation and early departures. If their two freshman goalies falter it's going to be a long season in Oxford. 7 through 10 could go just about any way and not surprise me. 11 and 12 I'm pretty confident on as well. Alaska is on their third coach in three years and for all the complaining there is on here about Paluch I've seen more and worse opinions from WMU fans about Jim Culhane.

I'll take a shot:

1. Notre Dame
2. Michigan
3. Michigan State
4. Northern Michigan
5. Miami
6. Bowling Green
7. Ferris State
8. Nebraska Omaha
9. Lake Superior State
10. Alaska
11. Ohio State
12. Western Michigan

Notre Dame made it to the national championship game without their top scorer in the lineup, Erik Condra, so I'd expect big things from them again this year. Plus, Jeff Jackson is one of the best coaches in college hockey. Not to take anything away from Red Berenson. Michigan lost their entire first line and once again will have a young team but I still think they'll be near the top of the league. I'm thinking OSU will have a rough year. Losing guys like Fritsche and Goebel will probably hurt them a lot.

Its going to be a real battle in the each 1/4 of the break down. in the top half I can Us having a great year and making the JOE. Yet I can see how with overall strength how we could finish 5th or 6th. this is my "BEST" lay of land for us.

Dave Ellett is a hero. A Bowling Green Falcon and a Former Jet and Maple Leaf. What more can a Winnipegger ask for.
