Let's review the facts:

Since 2005-06 (when Jeff Jackson took over behind the Irish bench) we are 0-13-1 against our 'cluster-mates'. In those 14 games we have been out-scored 65-23. That means they average 4.6 goals-per-game to our 1.6. Our power play has converted on 7 of 80 chances (8.75%) while they have cashed in on 27 of 97 man-advantage opportunities (27.8%).

What do YOU think needs to change in our: approach, game plan, preparation or execution in order to turn this around?

I don't think we need to start another "Fire Pooch" thread, so if that's the only contribution you can make, please don't waste your time. Just for fun, let's imagine that Herb Brooks or Toe Blake returned from the grave and took over the team today...what could/should/would he do (with the talent available) to allow us a chance to reverse this miserable scenario?

Well, if we have to stick with the players we've got my first step would be to plant a big guy in front of the net on every shift - Kantola, McIntosh, Dee - especially on the power play. Other than that we have to combat their superior skill level, so hit them every time they touch the puck and wear them down. Once they are too sore to move our speedy little skill guys will be able to do their thing. We've got the potential for the most bruising defensive corps in the CCHA - put them to use!

Stop wearing out our top two lines so they have something left at the end of the game.....

Not that it makes a great deal of difference (65-23 or 71-22 either is obscene) but I stand by my numbers. Somebody on the ND paper can't add.

Hector "Toe" Blake, CM (August 21, 1912 – May 17, 1995) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach in the National Hockey League (NHL).[1]
Blake coached the Canadiens for 13 years, winning eight Stanley Cups – the most for any coach in the team's history and second in the NHL. He is still the winningest coach in Canadiens' history. He was known for his tough, but fair coaching style; his players always knew he was on their side.

Place a copy of the rule book next to the toilet in the ref's lockerroom. Make sure it's the ONLY piece of reading material in the room.
Involve ref in checks whenever possible...

The fire "pooch" crowd are right on target. It's a combination of failures at work here. First and foremost poor recruiting !!! That leads to many of the other problems which are magnified by average to "poor" coaching. It's great to generate shots in a game but if there from the perimeter and teams will gladly give you those they're not generfating chances. You need to preach going to the net and using the middle of the ice too, especially
the "cute" power play sets. ND turned around quickly because they bulit from
the net out and are sound defensively as a 5 man unit. They don't have overwhelming skill guys but enough talent to make you pay for mistakes which BG is known for throughout the CCHA. And most importantly they are wel l coached by a "very experienced " coach who has coached at all levels.
"Pooch" isn't in the same league as nearly half of the coaches in the CCHA and his record bears that out and it's atrocious !

Firing the coach will only solve some problems, mostly on the ice. I don't know how well that would translate wins and losses wise, it'd be nice to find out. Ever since the school shifted focus to football, the hockey program has been left for dead, and as it's been repeated on here many times, that's the real reason why we're lacking behind. Just my two cents.
