Better effort, similar result

Post by TG1996 »

BG got on the board first, then tied things at 3 with 1:09 left, but fell in OT to Ohio State. :(

This season is going down the drain. We've got a chance to turn it around next week vs Michigan, but I'm not holding my breath. The team is clearly giving up on Pooch now.

Where that may be true, I saw a team with a great deal of p!ss and vinegar out on the ice. Kantola laid a major hit in the opening minutes of the game which pretty much set the tempo.

If the team has given up on Paluch [reasonable and substantiated] they must be playing for themselves and each other. It was a very good game with a lousy outcome.

I agree, they played hard and put forth a great effort. Schmidt played extremely hard and scored a hard earned goal. I feel that they truly wanted that win and feel bad for them. They played to win and it seems as though we haven't seen that in a while. Hopefully a better outcome against Michigan next week.

Bingo. The guys are playing for pride right now, that's pretty obvious.

The TO in OT sure didn't help.

I'm glad we saw a different team on Saturday even though they came up short. I was really worried after watching Friday's game that this was the kind of effort we were going to see the rest of the season. I feel the team played hard on Saturday and just came up short in the end.

I'm a little ignorant of the situation because I haven't been able to see the team play this year.

But when it becomes OK to lose to Ohio State because "the guys just played hard and had a great effort," the season is definitely over.

I am not saying it's OK to lose to anybody but if you had seen how they had played on Friday then it's kind of a small victory. I wanted the team to beat the Buckeyes pretty bad. The team did play pretty hard on Saturday which is not something they did on Friday. I am not usually one to settle for moral victories but I was pleased with the effort.

The season is kind of in a tail spin right now. As of the latest CCHA standings the Falcons are in sole possession of last place. It's been kind of an up and down season with more downs than ups.

I thought it was a very hard fought, physical game. Just sucks to tie it with so little time left only to lose in OT.

I'm not surprised Solway skated out to call it. Did Paluch even try to coach during the timeout? Those guys were dead tired by the middle of the third period. But I guess that's what happens when you have a line that gets 2 shifts in the first and 1 in the second. It's very hard to evaluate how good a player is (Vargas) when he doesn't get to see the ice.

From the game recap on USCHO.com:

Making his first start of the season after suffering a high ankle sprain in October, Eno kept his Falcons in the game, making a handful of above-average saves throughout the night. He finished with 21 saves.

“You saw the difference, the way they play with him in net,” said Markell of the BG netminder. “He’s very solid. I’m sure as he gets in better and better shape, he’s going to get right back into form. Scott [Paluch is] going to be looking for that, as goaltending is such an important part of any team.”
