KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) -- Police said a 52-year-old Ketchum woman is facing misdemeanor battery charges for whacking an opposing player with a hockey stick during a no-contact hockey game. Sun Valley police said they issued a misdemeanor battery citation to the woman earlier this week.
Assistant Police Chief Mike Crawford said the woman broke her stick over the leg of a male player on the opposing team who was lying on the ice at the time his leg was struck.
Crawford said the department normally doesn't get involved in on-ice altercations, but he said witnesses described the episode as excessive for a friendly hockey game.
Police began looking into the case after being notified by the victim after the game.
The woman was scheduled to appear in Blaine County Magistrate Court Feb. 2.
could there be a connection?

Ann Arbor Press: The University of Michigan has made formal application to the NCAA to grant an eligibility exception that would allow the Wolverines to offer a scholarship to 52 year old Idaho woman.
UM head coach Red Berenson became intrigued after reading of her recent exploits in the Blain County Senior League. "I have not had the opportunity to see her play," said Berenson "but if what I read in the police reports is accurate, she sounds like a perfect fit for our program."

Hey! Let's not cut down the noble Red Berenson by suggesting that he would recruit someone with a preexisting record of violence!

I'd certainly not want to suggest that Red is anything less than a fine noble gentleman and scholar. He's just got to come up with some way to protect his boys from the football players.

He did recruit Kevin Quick though, who stole his roommate Carl Hagelin's credit card and paid off around $1,000 of his own debt with it, then proceeded to get kicked off the team. Smart kid
Believe it or not, he actually played 3 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning this season and might still be on their roster. So I don't know whether he's still facing charges or not.

And let's not forget Red's incident of public urination on the library!! I'm sure he pissed "maize" during that one!

I was over myself years ago, but I find it odd that you took offense to nothing more than a jest. It's the kind of stuff that goes on in the football forum all of the time. We'll leave it go at that and I'll make no more reference to it. This was just too easy to pass up.
