I think Christopher was going to telling him the hockey program is being eliminated.

Based on what information? I thnk it's time to stop beating that dead horse without something concrete to back it up.

I think they were probably informing him that he would be canned at the end of the season, so he can let his players know and such

I have it on good authority that Greg Christopher is out of town this week as a member of the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee.

That would make a meeting kind of hard. ;)

Why exactly would they be meeting this week? Isn't it a little early to be thinking about the tournament draw? What else could they be discussing?

So you question the NCAA having a meeting but don't question why you would fire a coach with a few weeks left in a season that might be the last for the program?

EDIT: I did a little digging and maybe Christopher was gone last week. It appears the NCAA had a mock selection meeting held last Thursday and Friday in Indianapolis.

I don't believe any of that nonsense. I need concrete evidence of BG eliminating hockey before I jump on that bandwagon.

Thanks for that Bill. Nice to see that some of us can still be optimistic.

There will be plenty of money available if the university backs the program and changes the coach. Ignoring the program and especially
the arena is one of the main reasons we are now in this mess. Someone has to take responsibility and not have Buddy Powers be a stand-up guy
and take the pressure off the Athletic Department. Everyone is waiting to
see what kind of "leaders" we have in our Athletic Department.

I think donors are holding their breath and waiting to see if the university makes a commitment to improving the hockey team before they lay down their hard-earned cash. Firing Paluch would show that we are not content to settle for mediocrity, and would likely increase donations, making the renovations more likely

HAVING BEEN ONE OF THE MANY ATTENDEES IN PLACID, IT IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO SEE THIS PROGRAM WALLOW IN THE CRAPPER LIKE IT HAS. MAKE DECISIONS AND ACT ON THEM. STOP BLAMING THE PROGRAM'S DEMISE ON THE FACILITY...SERVED SUFFICE IN THE 80'S. PRODUCT IS ON THE ICE NOT IN THE ARENA. IF YOU WIN,,,THEY WILL COME!!!!!!!! RECRUITS AND DIE HARD FANS ALIKE. LONG LIVE THE BG HOCKEY TRADITION.

BG ALUM 1984

TWO HOUR WAIT TO GET INTO THE ICE ARENA TO SECURE A SEAT IN SEC. A ...... IN THE 80'S....PRICELESS.

Optimistic outlook
At the renovation meeting they said $ 4mil from the state and the athletic department would raise another $ 4 mil.
My optimistic opinion, I think raising $ 10 - 15 million would be easier that $ 4 million. $ 4 mil from the state and $ 4 mil from us will buy a real nice bandaid. $ 15 million is a MAJOR commitment from the City, the University and the community.

My wish list: April15th Dr. Cartwright has a press conference:
1. I would like to introduce the new head hockey coach ( insert name)
2. to my left are drawings prepared by Moore Engineers for the Hockey / baseball / softball renovation project
3. I would like to introduce Fran Voll, Jack Vivian and Mayor Quinn who have volunteered to help with the fund raising campaign;
the objective is $ 15 million; ground braking in the spring of 2011.
( ice making equipment for the 2 ice sheets will be replaced spring of 2010)
