MSU ties it, but Petruska scores to make it 2-1 after 2.

I can't believe we gave up 2 goals in thirty seconds in the third period. We did do a nice job on the 5 on 3 penalty kill.

How is that supposed to be surprising to anybody?

Having been at the game, I can tell you that it wasn't necessarily shocking to lose the game, but it was shocking to give up the goals so quickly. The first one (MSU's 2nd goal) was a nice individual effort by their player to completely out move Krelove and Schmidt. The second one (MSU's 3rd goal) the fans weren't even done doing their irritating cheer when they dropped the puck, brought the puck into the zone and fired it from the point. It appeared to either be a screen or tipped, it was hard to tell from the angle I was looking at.

THE most depressing thing (Other than hearing that horrible song WAY too much) was having MSU fans ask every BG fan they saw why we were getting rid of our hockey program. And to think, people thought this "rumor" was just going to "go away." Not so much.

Munn was as empty as I've EVER seen it. The MSU student section has adopted the time-honored tradition of stealing Michigan's cheers. The MSU brass, which was once one of the best in the CCHA, apparently only knows 3 songs.

Overall, this team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and never really had a chance after MSU's 3rd goal. They had been defeated and it appeared they knew it. For the first two periods, I was very happy with the play of the line of Sinclair, Petruska and Finnegan. I'd like to see them more to make a true assessment, but for their first shift of the second period, they had sustained pressure and lots of chances. They did combine on our second goal.

Oh well...we're 12th...time to move on to tomorrow!

There must be something wrong with me. I always hear stories about our fans going to places and getting heckled to death, and yet it never happens to me. I must of been the only BG fan in Munn who wasn't asked about the rumor. All I ever get asked about is how good we are (thats any sport not just hockey) and the whether (is bad whether is suppose to come)

I wasn't saying we were getting heckled...as a matter of fact, I'm with you, I rarely get heckled when traveling. (Outside of Yost, but that's a different story) The Spartan fans that I spoke with were concerned about the "rumor" they all seemed to be long time fans who remember the Glory Days of the rivalry. They all commented that it was sad that both teams had fallen on hard times in recent years. As much as I can't stand MSU, their fans have only once been anything but respectful. That time it was when Brian Hills missed a penalty shot and this little 3 1/2 year old started crying...:)

I was at Munn last night as well, and all the Green folks I spoke with were polite, friendly and, dare I say, HUMBLE. No one mentioned the 'rumor', and only one asked anything about players leaving or the possibility of a coaching change. Munn has always been a subdued venue, but there were more empty seats than I've ever seen on any of my many trips there.

I didn't get a chance to listen to most of the game but from what I heard and after reading the game recap it sounds like a broken record:
BG goes up early falls in the middle, and ran into penalty trouble and couldn't tie in the 3rd even though they had some great chances.

Fantastic game tonight (I'll be back to post about it later). I just thought I would share this with everyone.

There was a chant to go with it as well

Hopefully the administration will give whoever made that sign a reason to throw it away sometime before next season by firing Paluch.

As for the game, it was def. awesome to get a 4-0 win on Senior Night. Seeing Spratt get the shutout in his final home game was nice as well. He's had a pretty rough 4 years here to say the least, with a lot of that not being his own fault.

If Western Michigan loses tonight and we sweep them next weekend we should be able to climb out of last place by one point. It's kinda sad that that's what we're hoping for going into the last series of the season, but I guess that's what it's come to.

It was great to see the team play like they did tonight. Great defense, aggressive on offense, and Spratt played an amazing game. Thank you Seniors! :-D

Just wanted to say I knew you didn't say you were getting heckled, I was just bringing up my experiences, cause I read stuff on here about heckling at other places, then go to said places and not getting heckled. Your bringing up of seeing MSU fans ask every BG fan about the rumor just make me think of that and how that kind that kind of stuff never happens to me, like I said there must be something wrong with me :-D
