I would think the commitments from two players in the last two days should put to rest the rumored the death of the hockey program.
1. Obviously players and parents don't believe it or they wouldn't say they want to come here.
2. If the university was killing the program they wouldn't still be paying for the coaches to travel on recruiting trips, would they?
Maybe the sky isn't falling after all

I would tend to agree with what you are saying, however; there are some outside influences at work as well.
1. NEw President and some of those that came with her, did dismantle the last program
2. She did kbosh the renovations
3. There is no reason for the University to stop recruiting and bringing in players untill the very end, look at Wayne state and any other program football etc at any school that has folded, biz as usual until post announcement.
4. I would not doubt for even a min that this idea is not on the table, esp when some are looking at budgets and the forecasted potential decline in enrollment to higher education due to the recession.
5. We will be the last to know if it ever happens.
We have a D1 hockey team with a rich tradition right now. The program does have its issues, issues we are not happy with, yet we HAVE a program right now, and that is reason to be excited. Reason for more, is we have a CCHA playoffs this weekend. These next games are all that matter, the reg season is over, its the playoffs, win and move on, its that simple.

My main thought right now is, just because Cartwright was the president at KSU when that program was ended, how does that suddenly mean she's likely to do it here? It seems a very weak connection/argument to me.MACMAN wrote:I would tend to agree with what you are saying, however; there are some outside influences at work as well.

You are correct. Do NOT equate what happened at Kent with what is going on here!!ziggy z wrote:there were a lot more issues surrounding the hockey program at kent... im pretty sure most presidents would have done the same thing
GO FALCONS!!
SWEEEEEEP DUH schmucks!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Budget issues are budget issues. The Univ and all Schools are heading for some hard (er ) times and the out look based on choices made by Gov pretty much garuntess it will be around for a good while.
I highly doubt they will cut Prof pay, or admin pay, or not repair class room buildings...
Hockey is expendable, and we need to enjoy what have.
