Maize and Blue Nation blog post

Post by KeyWestParrot »

News must be spreading about BG possibly eliminating the hockey program. Found this on the Maize and Blue Nation blog.

Check out Save BGSU Hockey on the Facebook...it might not help much, but it might be all we can do at this point.

Scroll down to the Thursday News part to find the active link.

Found this on yet another Michigan blog. Glad to see others are picking up on this.

Scoll to bottom of page.

The guy that writes MGoBlog was one of the first few dozen to get in on the facebook group. Part of me is amazed (and slightly touched) by the comments of some of our rivals. UM hockey fans seem like the type to thumb their nose at another's misfortune, but the comments there are in tune with some of our own.

As for the first site you linked... he's a BG alum writing an up and down UM site? *sigh*

I just checked the OSU blogs but haven't seen any mention of BG. In a way not suprising since hockey is much bigger at UM than OSU.

The reason for this is that the college HOCKEY fans are a unique group and when one of their own is threatened, thy will rally DESPITE the mutual on-ice/game/rivalry hatred. It's also a relatively small community (as compared to football or basketball fans) in this country. If it were happening at another school with huge ties to tradition, we would be rallying for them too!

SAVE FALCON HOCKEY!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

They don't even talk about OSU hockey on the OSU blogs. Lots of talk about it on the USCHO.com Ohio State thread however.
