Ohio State sells sports media rights for $110 million
ASSOCIATED PRESS

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State University says it has sold the media rights for its sports programs in a 10-year deal guaranteeing the school $110 million.

The university said Monday that its partnership with IMG College and RadiOhio gives the companies the rights to manage and market publishing related to Ohio State sports, as well as radio game play-by-play and coaches' shows. The contract also covers television not included in Big Ten Conference and NCAA contracts.

In a statement, athletic director Gene Smith says the arrangement will help maintain the financial stability of Ohio State's 36 sports.

The deal with IMG College and RadiOhio also allows them to seek corporate sponsorships, coaches' endorsements and sign advertising.

If you are suggesting that we do this, I have some bad news for you. BG does not get anywhere close to the kind of national or even local media attention as Ohio State. This kind of thing only works with schools that have huge fanbases nationwide. We just don't have that here.

This past summer, My father and I rode our bicycles (the pedal kind) from Denver, CO to Wichita, KS. In the small town of Leoti, there was a house that had a large Ohio State flag waving from the flagpole. My father, a talkative person, and someone who lives in Columbus, inquired to some people standing in the yard if they were from Ohio or went to OSU.
They replied no, they just always have liked the Buckeyes.

That's why it's worth $110M

Was there a BG flag on the house next door?

We already have a deal like this with Learfield Sports. Unfortunately, I doubt it's as lucrative.

OSU is a monster....unfortunately for the rest of the Ohio schools. They can command that kind of money. They're called the Buck$ for a reason, ya know.
