It looks like he has nothing left to accomplish in the NHL, time to come back to BG

Agreed!

Good for Dan. How many Falcons engraved on the cup now? Off the top of my head, he's four... Morrow, Blake, de Vries, Bylsma... but certainly I missed one or two, right?

EDIT: Ah, he's the fifth, Brian MacLellan won with Calgary in 1989.

Congrats to Coach, along with my boy former Cincy Duck Chris Kunitz

Now who will be the first person to give me s**t since Kunitz went to Ferris and single handily brough them a CCHA title

Peregrinner had a great idea on Twitter:

Bring the Cup to BG, Dan! Maybe we could work out a fundraiser ($10 to take a picture with the Cup, invite all the '84 guys back, silent auction, etc.)? Take out one night to celebrate Falcon hockey. Then again, I'd understand if he chose to spend his day with the Cup within family and close friends. It's a helluva accomplishment to do what he did for that team in the 2nd half.

BTW, I'm getting a little sick of everyone booing Gary Bettman. He's made some mistakes in the past but he is arguably the best commissioner in major sports. The sport is starting to see some growth in both revenue and ratings and tonight proved why hockey has the best playoffs in sports.

Great accomplishment Dan! It's storybook ending to a most improbable season. The way he settled and refocused the Pens after that Game 5 implosion was just a masterful job of coaching and psychology. Hope a long and successful career awaits.

I am always proud to be a Falcon, but I'm a little more proud today than I was yesterday.

The game last night was one of the best hockey games I've ever seen. To think of what Bylsma has done with the team in just a few months is pretty crazy. He's obviously well on his way to having a long and successful coaching career in the NHL.

Not sure, but since front office people, coaches etc. are ALL engraved, do we have any ex-BGers as execs who might also be on the cup?

I was given the wonderful opportunity to go to game seven and seeing the pens win and coach bylsma lifting the cup having proudly been a part of bg history was awesome to see.....I would love to see the cup in BG but im sure it will never make it there..... Congrats Dan and it showing that bg has many alumni doing well.......this is a reason the hockey program should be kept here....Bylsma wins the cup with the Pens....Reirden is the official Wilkes Barre Coach.....Many players have signed pro including most recently Sinkewich and Sexton....Schmidt and Svendsen are working there way to the A.....Its a prime example that the program should be in the future here at BG.

I don't know about "never"... someone I know heard someone they know talk to someone they used to know and they said it might happen.

Seriously though, every year there are a few guys that end up spending their day with the cup at a former high school/college arena to show their appreciation. With Dan having a brother that was part of the hockey program as well, having a Falcon of a wife and the state of things with the hockey program, I'd bet a visit in some capacity is a greater possibility than "never". Though it may not even be his "official" day with the cup, he might be able to pull some strings to have it happen a different day.

As for Falcon names on the Cup, 61, I think George McPhee is about the extent of "front office possibles" from BG that could have been engraved, and he's not on it. Even though a number of non-players/coaches get their names on, it's pretty much just GM/owner/president/trainers after that. Those that have tried to get other positions on are now represented as "XXXXXXXXXXXX' :-D

$10 for a pic with the cup? Way too cheap. Start at $100 and work your way up.

When The Cup was at Adrian before the Saturday game on their inaugeral weekend, you could get your pic with the cup for $10, I think. They had it set up under a tent sitting on a table that you stood next to.

My feeling is that when we (Jack Vivian!!) get the ice arena fixed, we need to have a "grand re-opening" celebration. I am sure it can be arranged to have The Cup at that event. It would be an awesome way to kick off the revitalization/resurgence of the ice arena/Falcon Hockey program!!
