COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Scott Paluch, head men's ice hockey coach at Bowling Green State University, has been named a regional manager of USA Hockey's American Development Model, it was announced today by USA Hockey.

"We're really happy to have Scott on board," said Ken Martel, director of USA Hockey's American Development Model. "He brings great experience and is passionate when he talks about the ADM and the positive effect it will have on youth hockey in our country."

The American Development Model, with support from the National Hockey League, is a nationwide initiative that was announced by USA Hockey in January. It will provide local associations across the country - for the first time ever - a blueprint for optimal athlete development that focuses on age-appropriate training utilizing long-term athlete development principles.

A Chicago, Ill., native, Paluch recently completed his seventh season at the helm of the Bowling Green State University Falcons. During the 2007-08 season, Paluch led the Falcons to their most wins since the 1995-96 campaign.

Prior to his time at Bowling Green, Paluch served as an assistant coach at Boston College from 1994-2002. During his tenure, the Eagles made four consecutive NCAA Men's Frozen Four appearances from 1997-2001, which culminated with the national title in 2001.

As a player, Paluch patrolled the blue line for the Falcons from 1984-88, and earned All-America and All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association First Team honors his senior season. He graduated as Bowling Green's all-time leader in goals and points among defensemen. Following his collegiate caree,r Paluch signed a professional contract with the National Hockey League's St. Louis Blues, and played two seasons for Peoria, their International Hockey League affiliate.

Paluch has been involved with USA Hockey as both a player and coach. He served as the head coach for the 2001 U.S. Under-17 Select Team that played in the Under-17 Four Nations Tournament in Prievidza, Slovakia, and was an assistant coach for the U.S. Under-18 Select Team that competed in the 2000 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament in Kezmarok, Slovakia. In addition, Paluch played for the U.S. National Junior Team that won the bronze medal at the 1986 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Hamilton, Ont.

Paluch joins Roger Grillo and Major Joe Doyle as regional managers of USA Hockey's American Development Model.

We've been april foolsed so many times on this topic that I don't think anybody believed it until the actual article or some confirmation came out.

May the resurrection of BG hockey begin.

Well, this will truly shed light on where this administration sees the hockey program.

GOOD - If they conduct a national search and hire a good new coach.

BAD - The leave the interim guy in place. (No offense to the interim guy)

Anyway, I think this sounds like the perfect place Scott. I think he will do well and USA Hockey will be better for having him on board.

seriously though, this is a good thing! Even though alot of people hated him and Fire pooch signs were at most games last week, he was a nice guy, just not a good coach. Hopefully his new job with USA Hockey is a better fit for him. I wish him goodluck in the future!

FALCON HOCKEY FOREVER!!!

Well not sure how he got any job in hockey after his last 8 years. He goes from ruining hockey at one school to now being able to ruin it for all of the USA youth.
They need to find another head coach and soon, if they don't find another one before next year it looks as though they are just going to let the program fail. Leaving it in the hands of the interim head coach is no better then the downward spiral that we are used to seeing from Pooch.
