Bylsma at HOGO
I'm the Bird and here's the word..84 former players attended the HOGO and Bylsma was one of them!! What gives...no formal announcement to the public by the AD? Who is running that cracker jack dept over there? Where is the marketing dept in notifying the city? Like give the man a key to the city and make it a big freakin deal!!!! If you think that this AD wants to save Hockey he would have done a big promotion
on his return to BG...let everyone in BG know about it and invite them to see him play some pickup hockey at the Ice Arena!!! What is up with these PEOPLE???? We could have made a big deal out of this esp. when we had over 2000 RVs here for a week!!!! Maybe some of those RVers would have liked to have donated some money to our cause!!!! Do I have to do all the marketing for those CRACKER JACKS OVER THERE??? Is anyone working on saving HOCKEY or do they just want it to DISAPPEAR??? I am sick of the oversight on these people....I am totally peeved and I think this is the start of a HOCKEY REVOLUTION...
HOW ABOUT A TEA PARTY???

Re: Bylsma at HOGO
Another question...why do we not have a picture of the alumni who participated at "HGO" on the BGSUFALCONS website and not even a mention in the ice hockey section specifically??? Esp. when
you have a huge alumni like Bylsma in the house!!! Also what is up with Bailen's photo still on the main
story about playing at the new arena in Toledo...can not find a picture...how about DEE or KANTOLA??

WOW! I didn't realize the AD had power over the mayor of BG. As far as no big deal made over Bylsma being in town, perhaps something is in the works. But it's much easier to rant and bitch about everything that is being done wrong than to pick up the phone and ask someone in the department. Oh well, the cracker jacks sure are good.....

I will say I'm amazed no word has been more publicly spread of the gathering. But then it tends to be a highly fraternal kind of meeting. More like college buddies hoisting a beer, than some hardcore and over-polished fund-raising event.

On the Hockey ONLY Golf Outing -
I said Thank You to those who attended and those who couldnt but sent some information.
that is all that needed to be said.
I do agree that with some minor promotion the P/U Game could be a big fund raiser for the team. Play them as orange and Brown, have a skills competition and s**t, even bring back Scott Hamilton to skate between periods. Lots could be done that could easilly work it into a great fund raiser, even offer a lotto offer for X# people to win a chance to skate on either team.
We can work on them for doing this in the future.

Ding-Ding-Ding...We have a winner here!!NWLB wrote:it tends to be a highly fraternal kind of meeting. More like college buddies hoisting a beer, than some hardcore and over-polished fund-raising event.
But, more importantly, this was also the best opportunity for Jack Vivian to talk with a large group of the players all at once without a lot of other people around. This was gathering was crucial to the process that is currently going on!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Bylsma at HOGO
So let me get this straight....having Bylsma in BG was not a golden opportunity for this community and this CAUSE??? So, if we do not get creative with ideas to save this program, then I guess next winter I will have to eat my "cracker jacks" in an empty arena?
