I lost count somewhere in the 3rd sentence. I'm currently 100 pages into my dissertation, don't think I have used "would" once.

Go easy on the poor lad, maybe he's just a big Alice In Chains fan!

And he's a grad student in communications.

I noticed this in the article about the WL game also but hoped somebody within the department would straighten him out before this week.

Maybe he's just so excited to write about Falcon hockey, he's "got would"?

He must be excited about baseball too! That is very close to being UNREADABLE!

At least he's using the word correctly. Most of the time he should probably just leave the word out and be ok, but its a quick write, so its not a big deal. Hard from being unreadable.

Unless they changed the rules of the English language since I went to school he is not using the word correctly as "would" is the imperfect tense and communicates an action that happened repeatedly or over a length of time in the past. "When I was a child I would walk 10 miles to school in the snow, uphill, both ways!"

Either that or its the conditional tense and it might happen in the future.

Guess he's not using it correctly, but he is writing in the style of the majority of the press releases that recant games. Just a style specific thing I guess.

Ryan has helped me out more than once, and he loves the hockey program. But, if you guys feel the need to make a big deal out of it, then have fun.

Some of you need a life.

Seriously.

FWIW, criticism, if taken with the right attitude, can help to improve a person's work. That article is filled with redundancy and, yes, too many "woulds" most of which could and should be left out of the article without changing the point one iota.

As it's written, it's difficult to read and, as a Bowling Green alumnus, is somewhat embarrassing. I like to think that we hold our students to a higher standard but maybe that's not the case any more.

He had to write a quick game recap without even being at the game. Is it his best work? Probably not. But, anyone who knows Ryan knows he's intelligent and hard-working.

I find it pretty sad there's more people commenting on this article than the weekend in Mankato. I think everyone needs to cut down on the urine in your breakfast cereals.
