- Michigan denied my request to be in the press box this Friday so there will be no coverage from the game at Yost.
- Saturday's game and exactly how I'll be covering it are still up in the air. I will for sure be at the game. However, a liveblog or video may not be in the cards. The athletic department doesn't really know how the arena is going to be set up for internet, press box, press conference, etc. In fact, the team won't even have a chance to get a skate in before they take the ice for pre-game. We should have more info tomorrow some time.
- I'm told there are still plenty of tickets available for Saturday's game. The LCA holds 8,000 for hockey.
- Big Blue is on a 4 game losing streak being swept by Miami and Michigan State.
EDIT: Weekly Presser

I checked ticketmaster on Sunday and came up with Row G - Center Ice as best available. I'm afraid attendance is going to be an embarrassment. (We've got five people coming.)

Pricing 3 tickets last night it was gonna cost $70 to buy online. This was for the $18 seats. I would have a really hard time paying that much for a hockey game if I was just a casual fan.

Saturday night's game in Toledo will virtually be another home game for Mich.

I wonder how much ticketmaster hurts ticket sales in general with their outrageous fees (especially in this economy). I also hate not being able to pick what seats I want. The first row behind the players' bench is not my idea of "best available."

The closer this game gets, the more I think it is going to be a cluster like the football game at Cleveland Browns Stadium was. I thought this was supposed to be a BG "HOME" game but it's not looking like it will be. If LCA wasn't going to treat BG as the home team and give our fans decent seats then we needed to tell them to screw off! If they wanted to attach themselves to Michigan's genitals then they should have asked them to move a home game.

I've also been told that we are being charged for use of the arena.
I was supposed to receive an e-mail today outlining everything regarding this Saturday but it never came down. Hopefully I'll have more tomorrow.

I think it's false advertisement. Tickets are advertised at $15 and $18. BUT, when you buy them, you pay an extra $4 "convenience" fee.

$4 is one of the lowest "convenience" charges I've ever seen from TM. Of course you can avoid that if you can get to the box office to buy them in person.
Have I mentioned that I hate ticketmaster?

How much are the cheapest tickets for this game? I haven't checked Ticketmaster since I'm probably going to be buying them at the window on Saturday. Thanks for the help.
Even I think $15 is a little much to watch a college hockey game. Then again, I'm pretty cheap.

Seeing as how the BGSU Ice Arena To Be Named Later charges $11 ($14 for same day walk up) I don't think the $15 charge for a brand new venue is out of line. A lot of schools also charge a premium for games against big draws like UM, MSU, and ND.

Encouraging words from insidecollegehockey.com: “We’re not that good. We’ve got one returning 20-goal scorer, and he’s got one goal, and outside of that … we don’t have a lot of prolific offensive players.” — Michigan coach Red Berenson to the Michigan Daily following his team’s back-to-back losses to Michigan State this past weekend.
If Michigan’s season keeps going in this direction, we may have to officially name this segment of the First Shift in honor of Berenson. The Wolverines have scored a total of four goals in their last four games—all of them losses—and anyone who has watched their last two series against Miami and Michigan State can see that Berenson’s club is severely lacking playmakers and their ability to create scoring chances is virtually non-existent.
Let's hope they don't work things out in practice this week!

As a consolation, if you can call it that, there will be a Cover It Live from the game, just not from our side.... http://michiganhockey.net/
From what I've been reading at USCHO, these games are very winnable. If we play our game and take it to them, they're ours. Seems some of their fans are slightly worried.....
