I thought you did it for effect...you know, to make an obvious point? I actually thought it was pretty funny!!! I'm hoping someone in the athletic department who reads this board will pass the postings onto GC!

Re: Dear Mr. Christopher
As I said last night, this needs to happen almost immediately. I don't know how many people realize it just yet, but this entire program is poised for a major turnaround right now. Despite the rumors about the program last year that hurt recruiting and caused players to transfer or go pro, along with a first-time head coach, I would be willing to bet that the team is currently at a point most thought they wouldn't get to until next year. They are not only competitive, but they are winning - and more importantly, they are getting better every week. And who exactly is facilitating all of this?
This seems like a no-brainer to me. Sign Williams long-term NOW. I can't imagine what our recruiting might begin to look like if we commit to a young coach that players not only enjoy playing for, but can win with, paired with an historic program that has very public commitments to improve facilities and solidify the financial structure of the program itself. Hell, we were able to recruit JST without ANY of that!

Re: Dear Mr. Christopher
I was reading through some really old threads from the summer of 07 and I came across some comments that made me laugh.....some of the same people now that are praising williams and wanting him to be signed on for a long term extension had posts talkinga bout how much of a jerk he was...how he was a horrible teammate and an awful person.... read up if you interested .

By "same people" did you mean "completely different people?"sum1udontknow wrote:I was reading through some really old threads from the summer of 07 and I came across some comments that made me laugh.....some of the same people now that are praising williams and wanting him to be signed on for a long term extension had posts talkinga bout how much of a jerk he was...how he was a horrible teammate and an awful person.... read up if you interested .

Get a clue before you post this crap. If you take a second to actually read the thread you linked to, it is decidedly not the people who are praising Williams now that were trashing him then. I won't go into my personal opinions of those who were actually trashing him then, but let's just say that their opinion of him only strengthens my support of Coach W.

I dont follow hockey. I dont like hockey. But I popped in here to see what was going on because someone in another thread said Williams should be signed long term. I see he is 2-10-2. So what am I missing.
Re: Dear Mr. Christopher
Be careful what you ask for...I just read thru all the posts on the topic you linked, and have come to the conclusion that you're full of crap. The ones bashing Willy were 'freddiethefalconBG' and 'bgsufalcon24'...and we all know who/what they are. I'd suggest you do a bit of research before posting such nonsense.sum1udontknow wrote:I was reading through some really old threads from the summer of 07 and I came across some comments that made me laugh.....some of the same people now that are praising williams and wanting him to be signed on for a long term extension had posts talkinga bout how much of a jerk he was...how he was a horrible teammate and an awful person.... read up if you interested .

For the record, I'm extremely happy with the progress we've seen at this point...despite the record. As much as I'm encouraged by the direction, and as much as I like Coach Williams...I think we need to be practical. How about just removing the 'interim' label for now.

I should have read a little more in depth, sorry about that....bgsufalcon24 was kind of the thought I had about that and obviously hes the biggest fence hopper on here..... it was just something at the time i thought was interesting considering the situation. And if you consider my posting as crap you have no brain because every person on here has had an absolutely ignorant post at some point.
thanks
thanks

Re: Dear Mr. Christopher
and I apologize for accusing the wrong people, I dont spend hours upon hours looking at all the posters names, I mistaken one for someone else. But situations like these arive all the time not only bg. People on one hand will say how awful someone is and a year later be praising them to high heaven. It was a mistake on my part but you can obviously see how I viewed it.
I also agree with Freddie.....2-10 is not amazing from the paper side of the stats, but obviously with seeing the games and watching this team progress, its a little different. I agree we should remove the interim tag, but we need not sign this guy to some huge 8 year contract. I like all other Falcon Hockey fans are much pleased with this team now compared to how things were after the U-18 team played us but we may be getting to excited too early. Let things run the course and in February if we continue to progress like this, then lets start talking about a contract. I believe if this team can reach 12-16 wins this year that would be a fantastic turnaround from what turmoil this program was in coming into the year. and trust me THIS TEAM CAN WIN 12-16 GAMES!!!! and possibly more.

You're missing just about everything.Globetrotter wrote:I dont follow hockey. I dont like hockey. But I popped in here to see what was going on because someone in another thread said Williams should be signed long term. I see he is 2-10-2. So what am I missing.
You're missing the fact that we've beaten (in regulation or shootout) three top 20 teams in the past three series. You're missing the fact that we took #13/14 Notre Dame to the wire in both games, losing the first in the final 2 seconds of OT and winning the second in a shootout, something that is a HUGE step forward compared to previous years. You're missing the increased energy, drive, enthusiasm, and determination our players have over previous years.
You don't follow or like hockey? Then it's not at all surprising you don't see what's going on here. Give it some time, maybe watch a game or two, and you might start to pick up on it.

Re: Dear Mr. Christopher
Freddie, if you want to bash somebody for not liking a sport, or for not knowing anything about a sport, that's fine. In some sense that's what this message board is for. But for the love of god, leave the politics out of it. Last I checked, conservative or liberal ideology has nothing to do with the ability to make a coherent thought. What the hell does love or hatred of Barack Obama have to do with Dennis Williams or Bowling Green hockey in general?Freddie wrote:What are you missing? We practically have a whole forum dedicated to our governmental screwups and how we love/hate Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Limbaugh/Hannity/the liberal news media etc etc. Go take that sh*t over there.
