The Falcons vs. The Lakers
Currently, we are tied with Lake Superior in the standings for 9th place with 10 points each. This weekend series is HUGE in terms of moving up in the standings!!! LSSU is coming off of TWO shootout losses in the RPI tournement this weekend. We are coming off of two overtime games as well. Lucky for us, we don't have to travel two weekends in a row, like they do...WE PLAY AT HOME!!!
GOOD LUCK ICERS!!
SWEEP THE LAKERS!!
GOOD LUCK ICERS!!
SWEEP THE LAKERS!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: The Falcons vs. The Lakers
This could be a very interesting weekend. A sweep of Lake State would be absolutely huge for this team and program.
From what I have seen so far this team has taken long strides from where they were after the USA U-18 team. This weekend will be tough as we have seen in the past facing Mahoney-Wilson in net. The guy is a tough tender. Most of you remember the Game 3 of the playoff series in which he played phenomenal seeing 52 shots before Cepis netted the laser from the blue line. Lets hope our guys can come out and get alot of shots on this guy.
JST - this guy has a knack for creating scores whether its shooting or passing or just his puck possession in general. at times he tries to be too fancy but hes definitely getting into a rhythm and finding the college game.
Rodriguez - playing very well on the forecheck, grinding hard and battling for pucks, and playing very solid defense. Not to mention being rewarded with some scoring for his hard work. 2 goals and this guy is starting to get some confidence in his play.
Page and Krelove - obviously our two best defenseman and are playing well. It seems like Ruel is learning alot from these two and is becoming a very solid defenseman. Great leadership there.
Solway - brings great heart and passion to the ice ever night from agitating the other team to battling to creating scoring chances. This guy wants to win no matter how it gets done. His energy on the ice sure seems to be an uplifting spirit to this team.
ENO!!! - You really can't ask for much more from this guy lately. Other than a bad bounce against ND on Friday and a couple of handcuffed shots against UM @ LCA. Eno is playing with major confidence right now and the shootout victory and his play this weekend was huge. He kept us alive both nights with important saves on the PK and on even strength. Giving up 4 goals saturday is alot but he still kept us in it. You could tell with his celebration saturday night that his stops in the shootout built his confidence alot. I've never seen Eno so excited after a win like that.
Big series this weekend.....Got to come out strong both games...no lapse in either and get the sweep.

Re: The Falcons vs. The Lakers
This game is key in a lot of different ways. In the past we would play well against the upper tier teams and tank against the lower tier teams. We need to be able to play at the same level regardless of who we are up against. A sweep this weekend will be very telling in that regard.
FYI, rumor has it that there are a few players that left last year that are regretting their decisions. I wonder if there is a chance, at least with one of them, to get them back?

I don't even know if that's possible with NCAA transfer rules, but I would love to see Bailen come back.BGFan wrote:

Solway came back.....although I don't know if he had committed to another school yet.rood wrote:I don't even know if that's possible with NCAA transfer rules, but I would love to see Bailen come back.BGFan wrote:

As far as I know Solway had some offers but hadn't committed anywhere before changing his mind.BGFan wrote:Solway came back.....although I don't know if he had committed to another school yet.rood wrote:I don't even know if that's possible with NCAA transfer rules, but I would love to see Bailen come back.BGFan wrote:

Lake Superior is one of my least favorite teams.
...or maybe it was just Troy Schwab.
Either way, GO FALCONS! SWEEEEEEEP THE LAKERS!
(Also, I've decided to try my hand at a Falcon Hockey blog, and the first post is about this series. Check it out, if you'd like: Falcon Hockey Hooligan)

As long as he hasn't enrolled in another school, he won't need to transfer....rood wrote:I don't even know if that's possible with NCAA transfer rules, but I would love to see Bailen come back.

Re: The Falcons vs. The Lakers
hmmmm.... He's committed to RPI but he's playing in the USHL this season. Would there be a letter of intent to get out of with a transfer? Probably just idle wishing anyway as he could have followed the Solway model if he wanted to come back.pdt1081 wrote:As long as he hasn't enrolled in another school, he won't need to transfer....rood wrote:I don't even know if that's possible with NCAA transfer rules, but I would love to see Bailen come back.

I assume you're talking about Frank Anzalone.....and no he doesn't. His second stint as coach was basically a crash and burn.....FlagCityFalcon wrote:Does Keith "Stands"alone still coach the lakers!?

FYI..Frank Anzalone is currently the coach of the Quad City Mallards in the International Hockey League. Mallards have not gotten off to a very good start.

Can't say as though I'm surprised by the start
On a separate not, did you notice who's on that roster? Ryan Fultz.
