Big series this weekend for the Falcons against the Wildcats. Tough weekend against Ohio State means the Falcons need to come out and try to get some conference points in this series. The Wildcats had a strong showing in the Dodge Holiday Classic with a victory over Clarkson in the opening round and then defeating the home town Gophers in the Championship game.

Its obvious the key to the Wildcats success is the tall oak tree they have in net Brian Stewart. The guy pretty much covers the entire net when in butterfly position. It will take some great plays to get the puck behind him in the net but the Falcons have the playmakers, hopefully Solway and JST can get on the same page this weekend and connect on a couple lamp lighters.

The Falcons need a sweep this weekend to get themselves back into the conference battle. 6 points could get them within 5 points of hosting an opening round series.

Lets go Falcons

Falcons better be prepared to hit this weekend. NMU played strong at Minneapolis.

One thing i've noticed also, the last few series we've had against NMU, Stewart also has an amazing glove hand, besides taking up a ton of net with his size! The last few series against NMU, Falcons kept trying to go glove side, he'll give you a little view of the net but once you shoot glove side he takes it away!

So, can we get 8 wins in these last 12 games? I'm still optimistic but soon we have to start getting in the W column more. I think we get a split at Northern, sweep Western, split with Michigan, split with Miami, sweep ND and split with Michigan State. Come on boys let's get a big win tonight.

From listening to the game and reading through the stats it looks like we just got pushed around in our zone. If our D can't make life difficult for players to plant in front of the net then these kind of losses will continue. Also, getting 3 shots in a period won't win you games either.

What's been most disappointing the past few weeks has been our inability to correct the known issues. We're almost at a point where you have to tell your players that if you get a decent look just shoot and crash the net. I love JST's hands but he tries to do too much with the puck. The between the legs pass is pretty but you look a little out of place when no one's there to receive it. He's got a great frame for a power forward but he relies on his dangling. I hope we can adjust his playing style to make him even more dangerous.

We'll see what tomorrow brings I guess.

Drew, dont forget we knew it would be a rebuilding year, sure we were all optimistic, but its a rebuilding year. The team is growing, but its not going to happen this season, the guys who stayed knew that and I commend them for it, its no fun taking your licks.
We are fine.
this of this team like a fine wine, or better yet a nice bottle of Bowmore or a Macallan 30. Sure its fantastic and has so many layers, but if you opened that cask in year one you'd pucker right up...time to age and season, is all we need.

I'm not sure where the comparison is with wine and this team? Macman = no sense.
What the team needs is talent. I'm suprised the scores have been as close as they have this year. I expected to see a lot of scores like last night throughout the year. Coach Williams needs a chance to recruit some of his players in, Scotty Bowman couldn't win much with this team.

DRago= the exact opposite of erudite
if you drink wine, right after the grapes are smashed by those beautiful maidens feet you have grape juice, only when it has aged[/i] does take its true form...wine.

Early in the 2nd it's 3-1 BG. Interesting fact from Everett in pre-game: we haven't won in Marquette since 2001. Who scored the game winner? Dennis Williams.

Awesome piece of trivia!! I remember listening to that game and screaming my head of when WILLY GOT THE GAME WINNING GOAL!! I was SOOOO happy for him!! No one worked harder than he did, each and every shift on the ice and I felt like he was finally rewarded with the B!G GOAL!!!!

Petruska needs a hat trick!! Two goals and an assist in this game just isn't enough!!!

GO ICERS!!!
BEAT THE WILDCATS!!!!

BG gave up 2 goals in 4 minutes and we're tied at 3 apiece. About 2:30 left in the 3rd period at this point...
Come on Falcons!

Game tied at 3 after 3. Going into overtime.
Falcons have about 11 seconds of power play at the beginning to work with. Hopefully we can put one in the net quickly!!!

Go Falcons!!!!
