Not a big turn out, but I'm sure it would have been bigger if it wan't on a Friday night (the same night as the Relay for Life event...that was rained out!) and they didn't charge money for it. That aside, I was VERY impressed with what Bergeron said at the event. He spoke with a lot of passion and enthusiasm!! He just can't wait for the season to start!!!!! ME TOO!!!

Meet the Coach event tonight
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Meet the Coach event tonight
A very good meeting.
I'm impressed with Chris and Janice, and Ty and Barry.
Ty was coach of the Minn HS Champion.
Barry is from Thunder Bay.
Sounds like a good recruiting base.
The Ice Arena has been power washed, looks much better.
The patch ice is gone, the last time I did a B & E they were pouring concrete for the locker rooms.
The foot candles of lighting over the ice will be about x3.
Skate shop will be shopper friendly
Not sure how they are working this, but the Zamboni will work on main ice and skate/curling ice.
We may have a Caution Zamboni Crossing Sign.
Sports Fans it looks like a plan is coming together.

I guess this means the existing glass doors between the skate shop and Zamboni room are going to be replaced? The spectator area for curling is being eliminated to make room for the hockey rink and three entrances to that rink.
The last entrance at the west end of the curling area will be a garage-type door that will allow for a Zamboni to drive across the lobby from the skate shop to make ice on the multi-purpose sheet.

Re: Meet the Coach event tonight
The arena plan has the Zamboni room...new Zamboni room occupying the area that is now the east entrances (doors near falcon club lounge) and chains that will serve as a Zamboni crossing, too the large Zamboni door to be inserted on that matching end of the new small rink. the existing Zamboni room becoming concessions-proshop.
This also places the Zamboni ice dumb right near the heat exchanger for an effect melt and recovery, per the plans released at the HGO last year and has been unchanged to my knowledge in Jacks plan
you all should keep an eye on JST's brother who is playing for Waterloo ushL...could be neat to have more brothers again.

Re: Meet the Coach event tonight
Ditto to all of the above. I too thought that the turnout would be larger, but it gave everyone a chance to meet the new additions to the Falcon family (OK, Ty's a returning member). Good comments from Coach Bergeron. No lofty or premature promises, but a solid commitment to bringing the program back to it's former excellence.
