Constant mention of 'newly renovated ice arena.' Would something be 'oldly renovated' Come one folks.

Looks like page was out with the guys, and are those new gloves to with the new uniforms this year?
who are the old timers out on the ice...anyone?

Well, if they did it last year instead of this year you could refer to as "recently renovated." If they did it 5 years ago but it's the first time you've been back you would still refer to it as "renovated." I think the "newly" nicely emphasizes the immediacy of the renovation.

Didn't look that closely, but since they are "volunteer" practices or "captain's practices" then other players might have been out there!
