New Recruit

Heisenberg has a new commitment up from defenseman Mark Friedman. I'm pretty sure the age and height/weight posted is wrong since it's exactly the same as the posted info on Kyle Sucher.

Friedman is playing midget AAA in the Toronto area so there isn't a lot of info I could find on the internet but from what little I did find he sounds like a good one. He turns 15 on Christmas this year and is one of 12 defensemen invited to play in the Greater Toronto Hockey League Top Prospects game. At that age he won't be here until 2012 at the soonest, more likely in 2013.

This is the sort of long range recruiting that top programs do. The best players don't wait until they're 19 or 20 to make a college commitment. Since we're set for 2011 and only need two more players to fill out the 2012 incoming class it will be nice to see what else this staff can do in building for the future.

That's great that we are able to look ahead like this. Its also great to see the team is getting bigger as well; with what looks like each new recruit coming in at 6ft or taller.

Size was something Bergeron has emphasized in his recruiting. We're a very small team.

Which shows quite often....

FWIW, he's not that large. The info I found has him at 5'9" 170. I think that Heisenberg was doing some cut and pasting because he has the same exact stats as Kyle Sucher.

I saw that, too. Remember he's only 15, still plenty of time to keep growing and Brian Rafalski is only 5'10".

Another new recruit. This one is a '90 so I'd expect to see him next year: http://www.bucshockey.com/leagues/roste ... rID=704056

Looking at the stats he seems to be a good goal scorer with a decent two-way game. I'm a bit worried about size as I've seen him listed between 5'9" and 5'11".

His team's website had him at 5'11" so I think I'll go with that. Hockeydb.com says 6'1" for whatever that's worth. More glaring than the height is the fact that everything I saw said he only weighs 170-175 lbs.

He stands a better chance of increasing his weight than increasing his heighth. At least that's what I've found to be the case personally. :D

Mingo looks like he will be a good addition to the Falcons. He seems like a pretty solid player overall.

And we add another: Ted Pletsch of the CJHL's Pembroke Lumber Kings committed a few days ago. He is the son of CCHA Associate Commissioner Fred Pletsch.

Here's his stats page: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=78303

Good size. 6'3", 200 lbs.
