No one said we had players in the top ten in the country. We don't. My point was that it was nice to see BG names on THAT list...especially from an 11th place team. Any postive mention of the Falcon Hockey program on the national level is a good thing!!unfalconbelievable wrote:if any of you really think we have a top 10 player in the country I have some property to sell you.
It's nice to see these guys on the list but they are probably not even in the top 10 of the CCHA.
Agree with why you feel this way, but most know that all of those "hometown" votes only equal ONE vote in the whole process. When all is said and done, I don't think there was any final winner who didn't deserve the award. Other fan voters around the country that see BG's name on that FAN-ONLY ballot three times may see BG Hockey with a little respect (deserved or not, aside), being mentioned on the same national stage as others that are annually there. Also, the exposure for recruits or the recruits who are on the fence, see that too!! I repeat, national exposure is not a bad thing! Who knows, in 2-3 years we may have a player on the list that truly has a legitimate shot at it. (Yeah, I'm always the optimist regarding the program!!!)Freddie wrote:At the risk of sounding like some wet blanket, I feel compelled to sound off on this topic. To suggest that any of the BG players listed on the ballot deserve consideration as "the nation's top college hockey player" is beyond ridiculous.
The process that allows, in fact, encourages fans to vote for their hometown players regardless of their qualifications cheapens the award. As a true lover of the game, I decline to participate in this charade, and encourage others to do likewise.
