Did Coach say what I think he said?
Did Coach say what I think he said?
I'm not really trying to stir the pot here, but in Coach Bergeron's weekly press conference did he admit to letting David Solway play with a concussion? He mentions that David was having headaches and was probably already concussed but let him dress for the first game at MSU anyways? he makes an attempt to deflect the blame from their staff but if this is so, I think something needs to be done about it. Have we not already learned from watching the NHL and the consequences of concussions? Permanent brain damage is no joke. I wasn't able to attend the first game versus NMU but if a player is given a 5 min major penalty as a result from a blow to the head, I'm worried about a conky. If Coach Bergeron needs to step in and protect his players from themselves because they don't want to be viewed negatively for not being able to play, so be it. I certainly hope that was not the case, but I was shocked to hear him say this.
Re: Did Coach say what I think he said?
He also said that David hid the problem from the staff. If he's not gonna tell you there's something wrong, what is the staff supposed to do?

Coach Bergeron has been very proactive when it comes to concusions and injuries period. He sat both Rodriguez and Ruel when he found out they had concussions. Both players wanted to get on the ice sooner than they did. When Sloat was injured, Bergeron didn't rush him back. Like Falcons86 said, Solway somewhat hid the problem which in the long run ruined his chances to play this weekend. If Bergeron knew Solway had a concussion, he would not have been on the ice.

I did hear Coach say that same thing about David hiding it and I wasn't implying that Coach rush's anyone back from injuries to soon because he has zero track record of it. However, anyone who has played hockey at a high level or for a long enough time knows that people with concussions don't just appear to be all fine and dandy, you can tell a difference. I've suffered one playing hockey and had many friends deal with them to. I would just think SOMEONE would notice a change. I hope that in the future, even if it's own members of the team, step up and voice concern for a teammate if they know or suspect he got a concussion. The excuse "he hide it" wouldn't fly with anyone had he gone out and suffered permanent damage.

But with that said.....let's take NMU! Every year there is a "magical" team that runs through a playoff to the conference finals....why not this team! All the adversity and injuries, time to pull together and get some excitement back in the program!

Agree! And Solway made the trip with the team, so him being there with his team is a REALLY good thing too!!!joehockey wrote:But with that said.....let's take NMU! "Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
