Notre Dame Weekend

Lost 3 - 1 tonight.
Gave up 2 power play goals.
I'm not going to hang my head at this point and say that we are the same team just new hype. We are getting close to competing at the top of the CCHA. The hustle, back checking, physical play and the never say die attitude is very evident in the stands.
Two things that are lacking which are glaring which will come with time. Seeing hints of both here and there and some of its just youth.
1. Offensive Skill Player/s to score
2. Offensive Speed

And that would be their 5th loss (2 OT losses) in a row, 2nd weekend of getting swept. Not that I'm enjoying this or anything...
GO ICERS!!
BEAT THE IRISH!!

I thought it was a decent game....better learn how to score more than a goal a game. Hammond really made some good saves to give the team a chance at a comeback. I was really disappointed with the crowd. Not even 1900? May want to market big games to try and make some money.....

This weekend tickets are actually raised $3 per ticket. Notre Dame and Michigan are consider premiuim games. They may have made a few more dollars this weekend but not to even get 2,000 fans for one of your "premier". Complete lack of marketing this game to the public and promoting the hockey team in general. Notre Dame went to the Frozen Four last year and they are a CCHA favorite this year. I heard more promotions on the radio the week we played UCONN. Notre Dame, if promoted correctly, could be in the general hockey fan, given they are national ranked. Heard nothing of this all week on sports talk radio in toledo. Shame on those responsible for promoting the athletic department and its sports - YOU DROPPED THE BALL THIS WEEKEND FOR HOCKEY - buts that's typical.

Welcome to me 5 years ago. I can't even say I heard an advertisement for tonight's game over the loudspeaker last night.
Speaking of marketing/advertising, that old Zamboni is looking pretty rough. Maybe if they sold advertising on 2 Zamboni's there would be enough money to make a dent on a payment for a new one.

An unfortunate tradition in Bowling Green - hockey losing to Notre Dame.
Maybe I'm exaggerating but it seems like we've never beat these guys, ever, since I started following BG athletics 7 years ago. And we play them 4 times a year!
Whatever. Hopefully the tide turns tonight, but I'm not counting on it.

The team lost 3-2 on Saturday after giving up 2 3rd period goals.
Have to learn to finish games against this kind of competition. This team is still moving in the right direction!
Hopefully next weekend we will get in the W column against Ferris.

I loved to see the frustration that the Irish were showing in that game but I really loved the spirit of our boys! They NEVER GAVE UP and they NEVER SURRENDERED! Fought like hell to the end. Proud of the effort against a very talented team. We're definitely headed in the right direction. No one is happy getting swept, but I know that our future looks very bright. The young ones are definitely making a difference!
GO FALCONS!!
SWEEP THE BULLDOGS!!!

From my vantage point it just seems like there is more fire in this guys, the post game interviews is where I can clearly see it. There is a hunger to win. They know they lost, and the sad thing is that most people will look at this as a lost, but to the fan following this team you can't help to look forward to next weekend. As long as this fire and hunger continues, and with some refinement during the practice week; I really don't see why we can't have two strong weekends series's against ferras and canious (don't care about spelling their names correctly). I am looking forward to being back in the states and catching the canious game in person (prob only game I will be able to make, as I live overseas, but man I look forward to seeing this team play with this new attitude they seem to have).
On marketing, for god sakes we have the (I know we talked about this before, but...) opening weekend on fall break, not a single game on homecoming weekend (put it on the Friday night), and where are these great commercials/ads for hockey. We have southern Michigan, maybe Indiana(are there any cities over there), and the Findley/Toledo area to draw from (all relatively good hockey supporters, and there must be some research to support this otherwise there probably wouldn't be a walleye team). Maybe we can get a marketing intern that likes hockey? Do we have marketing interns for each sport at BG? (If we do have an intern, and you read this, you do a pretty good job with the other sports, please help out with hockey, ok

, thanks)
Go Falcon Hockey!!!
