Ferris State Weekend

Lost 4 - 0

Didn't look tonight. A few shifts looked good, but nothing consistant. The nail in the foot was not being able to capitalize on the game misconduct five minute major in the second period.

Let's go after it tomorrow night.

Just got back from the game. Not real impressive. Third game I've seen live, I think we are a very slow skating team and terrible on the power play. Hammond is a top 3 goalie in the CCHA, but it doesn't matter if we can't score more than a goal against decent competition. I don't see anything more than a 10th or 11th place team again.

For the first time this season we looked tired. We controlled a lot of the game with nothing to show for it. Unfortunate bounce in the first period ends up in our net. Then Hammond started getting impatient. Everybody was off. This was not the team we have watched the past few weeks.

I agree. It was a tough game to watch and frustrating as hell. I expect a much better effort tomorrow night. A few steps forward and one or two back. It's the nature of growth, as hard as it was to watch. :?

Sentinel write up on the game:
http://www.sent-trib.com/bgsu-sports/fa ... ht-11-5-11

I knew Bergeron would probably react this way:
“Definitely wasn’t a very good effort on our part,” BG coach Chris Bergeron said. “I told the guys one of the things I was concerned most about at the end some guys quit and started playing the game their own way. That’s not going to happen, not on any team I coach. Win, lose, good job, bad job, whatever, it’s not going to happen. They’ve been warned.
“We cannot let one effort send this thing into a tailspin where any of the strides we’ve made to this point are gone. It seems desperation time, but we’re nine games into the season.”
Tonight, I expect to see the team we've been seeing before last night's game.

I'll bet we see every healthy scratch from last night too.

This team needs to get offense from someone or a line or two soon. You're not going to win many hockey games averaging 1-2 goals per game. Big time concern for me.

First game I have seen in a long time. Clearly it was the wrong game plan. Trying to control the pace of the game, while conceptually a good idea, BG does not have the personal to achieve it, yet. Ferris is more than Decent competition, they are highly competitive and trending in a peak for the program right now. Trying to get them to adjust their game and slow down is not going to happen. To win BG needs to the chance even though they dont match up, and go wide open, play a disciplined game and honestly if they do they can beat Ferris. Last night was not a loss by the players, but was a loss by the coaches. Who went the wrong direction with the game plan.
I will be interested in seeing if the staff goes at them tonight, or maintains this same approach again. A very telling adjustment and regrettably I will not be able to make this game.

I'll be live blogging during the game starting now over at http://bgsuhockey.wordpress.com/liveblog

Just a heads up the game tonight has been delayed to 7:15 due to a ZMboni breakdown.

I'll be posting on my Samsung Galaxy from section with little Benny. I was wondering what the issue was.

They do seem slow. I tought that seeing them against ND. But they still look better than what I saw five years ago.

now down 2 on a short handed FSU goal.
