His quote from the Football Forum:
My guess is that they sold the old one to help pay for the new one. In regards to the scheduling I think it is inevitable things are going to conflict to some degree. We should avoid mens bball and hockey conflicting. I agree with Flip on the hockey team. At some point I think the university needs to decide whether wasting all this money to finish in last every year is worth it....I personally would like to see us downgrade the program or just cut it. Let's invest the money in improving our awful MAC sports teams.
You know what, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the hockey program isn't going anywhere. With fans like you, who the hell needs enemies. God, would you just go away. You never have anything good to say about anything at BG. It's getting really old. Go kick somebody else's dog.

It really defeats the purpose of putting him on my "ignore" list if everybody is going to insist on quoting him all the time.

Now, why did you have to go and draw my attention to that thread? Is this some sort of "self control" test?

Currently watching a game on TV between #11 Union and #5 Merrimack. If both these programs can reach the top 11, there is no reason that BG can't return to glory. It will take time and we need to be patient!
Go BG Hockey!!!!!

You see. What people like Drago dont want to understand, or choose to over look is that Hockey and basketball saved football. The money being directed to hockey and basketball in the 80's was redirected to football. The thinking was that with hockey being so dominate, and basket doing so well that if the school took the funds being earmarked for those two sports, and sunk them into football. That football would not become a powerhouse. They knew then, as we know still today that football will never be a leader. Instead, they thought that BGSU football could be as packed as hockey and basketball. In being packed lots of money could be made. What they failed to realize, was that with out hope of contesting on a National level, football would or could never be packed. Now while I wont go as far as saying football should be cut. Football needs to be viewed realistically. Stop going to bowl games that cost the School money to participate in. Those are poor bowls with poor viewer ship and do nothing for recruiting. Focus on MAC Championships. Those are what matter for football. Quite honestly the University should supply the same steepen to the football, and ask them to self fund. That would be a very wise decision, especially when coupled with using those funds directed at football for the hockey team and basketball teams, for the next 20 years. Some much needed payback, considering football has been given every chance to be successful and failed. Hockey and Basketball deserve the opportunity to have what is owed them and to return their highly competitive levels. Safe to say that wont happen. Yet, if it did with out question it would be the best thing for the school.
AS for hockey he is right. We are in the bottom of the CCHA. A super conference with 9 of her 11 members in the top 25 or 20 at any point this season. If this were 2013 and BGSU were in the WCHA BG would be ranked about 5th or 6th in that conference.
Drago is also, as is typical, looking for instantaneous results. This is year two. The results are in the recruits, where we have brought in some of the best and working even more than those listed. The W's will come, and its my guess that we likely rocket up when it does, and people like drago will complain about something els, like art supplies or a toilet paper shortage.

Nonsense...pure nonsense. Football was very successful in the 80's...as was hockey. More recently, football has been nationally ranked at the end of the season twice in the past 10 years. Hockey hasn't even had a winning season since the fricking Clinton years. Football is on an upward trend....where is hockey?
I don't have a problem with BGSU hockey...I really don't. But some of you need to wake the f**k up and realize this isn't he 70's or 80's any more. We aren't a hockey school....

Flipper,
If you think that we a a football school then you need to wake the f**k up. Despite our troubles, we have a much, much, much better chance to compete nationally at the top level in hockey than we do in football. Are we ever going to match LSU - NO. Can we match Michigan in hockey. At one time we were better. We can again.

Oh please...I keep hearing about what used to be...you have no idea how tiring it is to hear some of you talk about the program's supposed place in the pecking order based on s**t that happened 30 years ago. Today...in 2011.. the hockey the team is at the bottom of the CCHA where it's been for years now. It almost got axed a few years ago. You should be more concerned about avoiding the axe again if we still aren't competitve in the third tier league we're moving to.

Can't we just all agree that pretty much most of our athletic programs are NOT where they should be (and where they have been in the past)?
Arguing about anything else is just plain stupid and it makes you all look like... well... kids.

At least football and the men's basketball teams are showing some life...the hockey team struggles year in and year out yet some of these people act like it's 1984 and the sport is still top dog. Those days are gone...long gone..and if they don't come back soon...who knows how long we'll be playing the sport here?

Miami was the doormat of the CCHA. Western was also the doormat of the CCHA. 2 schools that are almost carbon copies of BG have risen there programs to respectable levels. Give me one reason we will not.

It's Bergeron's SECOND YEAR!

Like any new coach taking over a team who has struggled
FOR YEARS(ie;
FOOTBALL), a coach deserves a few years to get his own recruits in. If we're not competitive within the next 2 years, then I'll be frustrated too. Chris Bergeron has been an intergral part of the redskinhawks growth from midlevel to top competitor. He knows what a team has to do to become a national competitor, to compete at a high level in each and every game, and to create their own "brand." They preach it constantly. It takes a while to completely change an attitude and a way of thinking.
GO FALCONS!!
FALCON HOCKEY FOREVER!!!!

Not to join the football vs any sport argument...but there is no way that our football team is ever going to win a national championship, just not in the cards, sorry to say. I am a BG football fan, but we just have to accept things the way they are with that, yes we can make it to a bowl game or two every now and again, anything beyond that is gravy. It would be nice though, BGSU vs LSU in the national championship.
Like it was said previously, Western, Miami, even Lake Superior and Northern Michigan are doing well, Western and Miami are obviously doing extremely well in their recent history...and if its possible for these schools to play well, I am sure BG can too. Even w/o the national championship and all the great players and history, BG can improve as it stands right now, why not, there are some exciting young players and a cultural change that I am a huge fan of, and there is no reason to argue against this unless you are a Toledo fan.
Its hard to be a fan of losing teams, yes, but for me hockey was the only sport that I was "wowed," and I mean like being at the Big House wowed by. We all have our BG moments, and sports that filled us with a sense of pride in our school, there really isn't a need for us to attack one another. I get excited when I see our students from the business school out winning competitions, so whatever it is as long as its BG I am a fan. So GO FALCONS and...
Go Falcon Hockey!!!
