Ferris State...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Gotta admit I don't know much about them. Are they a legit #2 in the nation? Seems this year they've pretty much done what they wanted against the Falcons. Will BG be able to keep the scoring up against FSU? Seems this could be a BiG statement weekend if the Falcons can eliminate the Bulldogs. What are our chances? Exciting to see the improvement of the team recently.... =D>

They're legit. They don't have any real superstars but they have at least 3 lines that are virtually identical when it comes to scoring threat (a lot of depth, in other words). Their 4th line isn't far behind, either. So, when you can rotate that many lines with very little or no drop off in their ability to score it makes it very difficult to try to match up your lines with theirs. They end up wearing down our top 2 lines as a result because they get rotated in more often.

We will need every skater playing at the top of their game to pull it off. I believe that we can, but it will be tough. If we do pull it off my gut says that it will be in 3 games.

Friday and Saturday, or Friday and Sunday, or Saturday and Sunday are must-win games.

I agree with BGFan's assessment of Ferris. They are for real. Without a doubt the best TEAM I've seen play this season. Michigan may have more TALENT (11 NHL drafted players, compared to ZERO at Ferris), but Ferris is a solid TEAM without the ego issues.

Every player knows (and embraces) his role, they all play both ways. They're tough! Does that mean they will win?...Not necessarily, but we will need everybody to play their best, and a good break here or there wouldn't hurt!

We do have three distinct advantages in this series:
1. We've got NOTHING to lose...all the pressure is on THEM
2. Their students are on spring break, their building will be a morgue.
3. We have the sharpest looking road unis on the planet.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Technically, scUM's hockey team doesn't have any NFL draft picks either :partyman:

Of the teams left in the tournament, we match up the best against Ferris. Similar styles, similar talent. Difference is execution and confidence. The advantage goes to them on those. I tried to find it the other day, but Paula's column after our last series with them included a quote from their head coach. He flat out said he did not want to face BGSU in the playoffs.

There is nothing this team can do from here on out that would surprise me, I don't think.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Looks like tonight's (& tomorrow's) game is viewable via:

http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/ferris.portal#

Anyone ever use this before and if so, worth the investment? I'm probably going to just sit back and listen to Everett. Unless convinced otherwise -------cue Fanatic in 3-2-1............

Anyone else wonder why we don't have a similar online streaming service?

But it's not even close to the same quality Ferris has and actually works most of the time unlike America One.
