While it is an...interesting arena just because an NHL team plays there doesn't make it an NHL facility.

This belongs in the "Other Schools" forum, since we don't care about it in here.

GO FALCON HOCKEY!! :supz:

I'm just hoping that the Michigan-Ohio axis in the new WCHA band together to move their tournament to this side of Lake Michigan. Grand Rapids would work well for me.

And the CCHA teams outnumber the WCHA teams 5 to 4. Shouldn't it be called the CCHA?

Sorry, but the Joe is a dump and in 2015 it will be an even bigger dump. It's the worst of the 30 NHL arenas. In 2015 we'll be beating all these Big 10 teams on a regular basis!

I'm hoping the WCHA holds their tournament in Chicago. Lots to do and centrally located except for the Alaska teams.

How much sense would it make to hold the conference tournament in a location with zero local connection to the conference? Attendance for CCHA conference tournament games not involving Michigan or Michigan State is always dreadful.

I honestly can't think of a good location to hold the new tournament. Three teams in the UP, one in the boonies of Michigan, two in rural Minnesota, two in Alaska and us. Maybe a rotation of the top seed hosting the tournament each year?

I'd be game for rotating between non-school arenas. Chicago, Minnesota, Grand Rapids, etc.

It literally smells like a sewer, and the seats are rusting in place. Historic yes, but also in need of an upgrade or wrecking ball.

The JLA needed a waiver from the mayor to open in 1979...the entrances and upper bowl were deemed unsafe because of the angle of the steps and the building didn't technically pass a safety inspection. A new building is coming...the Ilitch family has been buying up land over by the other stadiums and wings coach Mike Babcock alluded to a new building as part of a mall in an interview earlier this year.

But yeah..the JLA right now is kinda rough...

WCHA will be hard pressed to find a place to hold their tournament considering the NCHC has many ex-WCHA teams. My guess is Minnesota/Chicago/Denver/St. Louis will be likely destinations to rotate through.

Are you talking WCHA or NCHC, there? Denver/St. Louis would make no sense for our new conference at all.
