Jake Sloat

Post by rc_ziggy84 »

BG News is saying that Jake Sloat suffered a "lower body injury" - possibly a broken leg or ankle. :(

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Confirmed to be a broken leg, likely he misses most if not all of the season. Sucks. Hope he gets back as fast as possible.

Last I heard (at the gathering after the game with the players and coaches), they are expecting about 6-8 weeks, not the whole season. It was one of the bones in his lower leg that is broken, may need surgery as well. :(

OIT played dirty all night long and didn't get called for nearly enough of the crap they were getting away with. Sucks to lose a high caliber player like Jake in an exhibition game.

This is not the first time crap like this has happened in the Canadian exhibition game. Is it really worth playing these things every year?

Should maybe ask Adrian or someone else locally to scrimmage a couple games. I agree with you on this one.

Adrian is NCAA therefore would count against our total number of games played. Canadian schools are "exhibition" games. We are allowed 2 of those per season before it counts against us. Really the only option would be the U18 team.

I talked to Coach Schutte yesterday about Jake. He's having surgery today and it should be about 6 to 8 weeks. He'll hopefully, be able to lace'em up around Christmas. Hope everything goes well Jake!

I saw the hit and the first thought I had was he just broke his ankle. I work in the medical field and have seen injuries like this and would be very surprised if he returns in the time frame given. Hopefully Jake proves me wrong but thank the lord we have some depth all be it young but it is depth. Maybe Shea will move back since it may be easier to break in a young forward than it would be young defenseman.
