The Bleacher Creatures are Back!

Post by Falcon Hockey Fan »

Bringing back hockey tradition, one step at a time, eight current BGSU students brought back the Bleacher Creatures at the game tonight. Hope to see some pictures in the BG News come Monday, but I will confirm it now that the Bleacher Creatures are officially back. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure thought that the arena tonight was loud and proud. We will do our best to keep everyone pumped up and going at Falcon hockey games! See everyone tomorrow at the arena!

Personally, IMO, I've heard louder high school soccer games than the arena was tonight...

The loudest the arena got was on all the "oh's" and "ah's" when our shots came close to the net.

The student section was woefully disengaged tonight and did little to nothing to get the rest of the crowd involved.

Music-Man, the student section can't help that the rest of the crowd won't get involved with our chants. You don't like them remember? We fully wish that the rest of the crowd would get involved, but we can't force them to. Also, maybe you were not sitting in a good enough seat, but from where I was sitting, our student section was pretty damn good tonight. Maybe we are not up to your high standards, but we represented our team well tonight.

My guess is MM is right, because FHF got very defensive after his comment. We'll be at the football game Saturday, followed by the hockey game. Personally, I just want to watch a falcon victory.

FHF, I was sitting cross-ice from the student section, so I was in a good position to hear anything that came from there.
I was a student a mere two years ago and we had a group of 4 or 5 who, when weren't in band, could get the whole group cheering. Tonight, it seemed in key moments there was nothing happening, or if there was, it wasn't sustained long enough to get the crowd involved.
The best chant to get the whole arena involved is "BG!! (SU!!)." And keep having the whole group doing "BG!" until you get a response. Have one or two people who are extremely loud at the bottom next to the glass who can turn around and get them started on a cheer.

I'm not condemning your efforts tonight, just trying to help you to get you guys to achieve your goal.

Showing up for one game is not bringing back tradition.

If they continue to show up the remainder of the season, then we can say tradition has been brought back.

Especially considering there was a costume contest last night.

Love the enthusiasm of these students. Just remember there's no need to tell us the little things you are doing. When they become noteworthy, those in this forum (and the diehards) will take notice. You're not going to change things in one game or a weekend series. It's going to take most, if not all, of the season to make a noticeable difference. Keep working at it and don't give up.

So true. The cheers need to last longer, and be at the right time during the game.

I hope everyone noticed the student section tonight. The bleacher creatures were there loud and proud. Don't worry, I'm not just talking out my ass. I wouldn't say that they were back if I didn't know that the eight of us doing it were not extremely dedicated Falcon hockey fans. Don't worry, you will see us for the rest of the season, and we will make sure it stay around. Tonight, our crowd was pretty rowdy, and I firmly believed that our chants and our loud voices raised the spirits of our players. We got the victory tonight, and I am happy about that. We will be there this Saturday to take on Michigan State at home. We will see everyone then!

I agree with you. I was standing at the far end by the skate shop the whole game and could hear you guys regularly.
Keep up the good work!

Went to both games, I remember when student turnouts for Ohio State were great, last n night was a disappointment. I still think the students were more engaged when I was in school, but FHF has something good going and I hope it keeps building.

More students on campus need to get involved in athletics, the football and hockey crowds were dismal.

The hockey crowd was not that bad. Could it have been better, yes, it could always be better, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. The fact that it was Halloween on a college campus probably took some people away, but I was proud of our students who showed up last night, we loud and proud for our Falcons, and they didn't let us down.

Halloween combined with a 5:30 OSU football game. Easier to sit on your couch and drink than stand in the Ice Arena. Sad, but unfortunately true.

That is what I'm trying to say. For the situation, we had a good number of students there. Now that OSU is gone, I officially can't wait until our Home-and-Home series with Michigan State!
