Penalty Call At The End Of FS Game1

Does anyone else realize that the ref (Keith Sergott) who made the questionable penalty call with under 2 minutes left in the Ferris State game played for them from 1992-1996.

How can the CCHA allow refs to work a game that includes their Alma mater?

I could've swore that wasn't him. The mustache threw me. He should NOT be reffing Ferris games. I actually didn't think he was allowed to. I truly expect a much different penalty scenario tonight.

By the way, how did 19 not get thrown out for intentionally dumping him in the first period? It was a pretty brutal trip and could have ended very badly.

The moustache didn't hide him. Just like when he played he is big, goofy, and always 2 steps behind the play, hence no stats after the Ferris State days.
He is the worse ref I have ever seen in a decent hockey league.

Absolutely ridiculous. You should never be allowed to referee your Alma Mater - even down to HS leagues. That's commonly the first question I'm asked by assigners for basketball - "What's your HS Alma Mater?"

CCHA should easily know better...

I believe to MAC uses a 10 year rule, or at least it was that way years ago. Sid Rodeheffer did many BG games in football over the years and was a basketball letterman at BG.

I do not see the issue. The officials called a good game. 13 P, 7 on Ferris, and 5 on BG. I have no problem giving him the benefit of the doubt, as he has moved on from participation as a player and is now an official. I also trust that there is enough objectivity in the officiating group to listen and watch for a problem.
BG lost on Friday because we were unable to convert on the PP( 1 for 7 and we should have easily had 2 PPG they way we controlled the puck in the offensive zone.) and add in we gave up that shorty. The BGSU product is coming back, its clear, you can see it in the way this team attacks the game.
Then Night two BG carried the play again and we out shoot them two to one. As these guys start to finish those chances in the coming weeks, these L's become W's. It is happening.

No way, were you at the game Friday night, I have been involved in Hockey for 40 years and I did not see a penalty there.
A 1-5 record does not indicate BG is on the way back up!!!!
It is better than 0-6 but it is not acceptable. Come on. Last place sucks.

If last place is OK for you keep defending the issue.
A turn around in sports doesn't take more than a couple years.
Ex. Notre Dame is #1 in football, where were they 2 years ago?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

The tradition can occur but it should not take 100 years to happen.
BG has more to offer to recruits than Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Alaska, Western Michigan, Lake Superior, has to offer. Come on be real. I have watched BG for over 25 years and they are not getting better.

We are not in last place. The team is better than last year, even though we may not have the wins to prove it, we are getting better. We are outplaying our opponents, but we cannot finish, whether it be bad bounces or missing the net or whatever. We have to stop giving up odd man rushes too. We are improving, and while 10th place sucks, it is not last like we were last year at this time. But we do have to start winning our home games, that is what good teams do. We also need to show up to play all three periods, having a good first and third period does not make up for having a really bad second period.

Better then last year really. 10th is better then 11th. I agree. but its not even 5th or 6th where BG should be on a normal yearly basis.
Come On.

Better than last place should not be an issue.

So you thought BG should have been fifth or sixth for the past few years? And based on what, the end of the season the year before or...?

I have heard Coach Bergeron speack about the issue. We are about two years away from creating a program that will be consistently good. I don't know if you forgot where we were just a few years ago, but the team is showing great improvemets. Would you rather lose close game with good players or lose games in a blow out because we have terrible players. The team is on a mountain climbing upward. Keep faith, they are getting better.
