Dear Abby

I have a dilema.

My wife and I rarely miss a home game, but this Friday our grandson has a high school basketball game which conflicts with the Western Michigan game. She has decided she will go support the grandson. This has happened before, and will happen again.

I called a friend and invited him to join me for the hockey game, he said "sure, I'd love to come along...but you need to remember that every time you've taken me to a game BG has gotten creamed...are you sure you want me to come?"

I see several possible solutions:

A. Tell the wife she needs to get her priorities in order. HS bouncyball games are a dime a dozen, and they'll be other grandsons. This solution, while expedient, does pose certain risks.
B. Give both my tickets away to charity and go with my wife to the basketball game. I like the positive karma that this choice may produce, but; damn it, I don't want to miss the game.
C. Find a new friend...preferably one who is not a jinx. I'd feel like a heel for taking the offer back, but I give him credit for respecting the possibility that he may be to blame.
D. Bring him along, and hope for the best. It's silly to think that one guy's presence in the stands can have any negative effect...he deserves another chance.

I'd be happy to consider any other suggestions.

That's right! BE THE MAN! You tell her what she is going to do on Friday night and tell her she will like it whether she enjoys it or not! Don't back down and don't let her do any of that female stuff, like bat her eyelashes or furl the lip so it quivers like she is going to cry. Remember - YOU'RE THE MAN!.

Hopefully the doctors will be able to reduce the swelling around the eyes so that you will be able to watch the game.

Go to the game stag, sell the extra ticket at the door, use the proceeds to buy a beer at the Falcon Club lounge! See, that wasn't so hard!

Whenever I have extra tickets, I usually find someone in line and give them to them. I walk away before they can pay.

There's no superstition in hockey.

Superstition is alive and well in Hockey.

Take another friend. Turn your Budwieser label toward their goal.
It is only wierd if it works.

If we win Friday, your friend is banned for life.

No joke! Everyone knows victory depends on what I wear. Or the combination of what I wear and Mrs. BG84 wears. Or which hat I wear. Or how many hawks we see on the way to the game.
