Re: Mark Osiecki out at O$U
Wow, that's a surprise! He was only there 3 years, hardly enough time to prove himself. There must be more to the story...
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

"Difference of opinion in the management of the hockey team." Rumblings from the OSU thread on USCHO are 1) the job was nothing more than a stepping stone to a higher profile position (for Osiecki), and 2) OSU refuses to commit to the hockey team by building a building for the hockey program. My guess is Gwozdecky being available made the decision very easy for OSU.Falcon Fanatic wrote:Wow, that's a surprise! He was only there 3 years, hardly enough time to prove himself. I wonder if this will affect our schedule.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Didn't OSU recently get a donation to build a new, smaller arena that will replace St. John and be used for hockey among other things? Or will hockey still play at the Schottenstein Center? If they are playing in the new place then #2 doesn't seem to apply as far as a building for hockey. I could see that they may not commit to the hockey program but you would think a coach would understand that when you go to a school like OSU where football is number one and number two (men's basketball) isn't in the same stratosphere. Thad Matta has embraced that and obviously been very successful.pdt1081 wrote:"Difference of opinion in the management of the hockey team." Apparently, that building keeps getting pushed further and further back.98_BG_GRAD wrote:Didn't OSU recently get a donation to build a new, smaller arena that will replace St. John and be used for hockey among other things? Re: Mark Osiecki out at O$U
I was under the impression the new building would be the main arena for the women's team and a practice arena for the men and women. The men would continue to play in the Schottenstein Center. The new building is only supposed to seat about 3000.
Personally, I think building it around 7500 seats and making it the main and practice arena for the men and women would make more sense. For bigger games the Schottenstein Center could be used.

I live here in Columbus and there are no immediate plans to build such a facility that I'm aware of. Yes, it's "on the drawing board" in a very general way -- but I know of no specific date being set for anything at this time. It's the Journey... wrote:I was under the impression the new building would be the main arena for the women's team and a practice arena for the men and women.
