Penguins to fire Shero and Bylsma

Kinda expected given the loss to the Rangers. Shero was GM of the year last year and Bylsma coach of the year in 2011....how quickly things change. But, that's what happens when you pin your hopes on a couple of crybabies like Cindy and Malkin.

The decision to fire Bylsma was abysmal.

I reported Shero and Bylsma were to be fired. Shero was. Bylsma wasn't.

Bylsma's not gone yet. but even if it happens, he's got no worries about a new job.

If Bylsma does get canned, you would have to the Washington would jump at the chance to hire him. Having canned McPhee, they need to restock the supply of BG guys in the office.

Yeah...it would be absolutely ridiculous to fire the coach just because his prima donna doesn't want to put the work in on both ends of the ice.

Cindy needs to take some lessons from my hockey hero Steve Yzerman. He came in with all the ability in the world and scored at will. But he didn't become great until he learned to play both ends of the ice.

Cindy can only hang his hat for so long on that lone championship he lucked into.

I wish...with the talent that has passed through this program over the years....it be kinda hard to not hire someone with BG ties.

The Pens handled this really poorly. when they canned Shero the story was that they would let the new GM make the coaching call. Rutherford hits town and Bylsma is fired simultaneously...a decision the new GM attributes largely to the owners. If I were Bylsma, I'd be pissed. Does Bylsma move to t he head of the line for the Florida gig?

Panthers hire former Detroit Red Wing Gerard Gallant. Wings assistant Bill Peters got the Caps gig creating an opening for an assistant in Detroit...maybe Danny would like to spend a year working with the master, Mike Babcock

Capitals hire Todd Reirden as assistant coach
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/cap ... ant-coach/" target="_blank

The new-look Washington Capitals coaching staff under first-year bench boss Barry Trotz continues to take shape after the announced hiring of Todd Reirden on Wednesday evening.

Reirden, who spent the past four seasons as an assistant with the Pittsburgh Penguins, working primarily with their defense and power-play units, comes to Washington to replace Calle Johansson, who announced earlier this week that he would return to his native Sweden for family reasons. It was a whirlwind day for Reirden, whose employment was terminated with the Penguins, coinciding with the hiring of new head coach Mike Johnston. Mere hours later, he found a new job.
