Miami put up 57 shots today.
BG put up 61 yesterday. Personally, I'd like to see a little closer matchup. Why? Because I don't like the idea of our guys thinking their game is that refined already. It's not. There were multiple times guys could have easily been caught out of place, but the level of competition wasn't there. The challenge will be convincing the freshman that the mistakes they made will start ending up in the back of our net come Friday.
Hopefully, the last half hour of every practice this week is spent on line-changes. Those must be better than last season and better than Saturday afternoon.

It is always difficult to gauge anything from an exhibition game because, in most cases, they are so outmatched. (I say "in most cases" because WMU ended up in a 2-2 tie with Toronto.

) We were sloppy in spots, for sure, and that's to be expected in a game like this. Both of their goals were on defensive breakdowns, IMO, even though the second one was on the PP. A 5 minute PP where we had more SOG than they did. Sholl faced all of 2 shots in the second period and that was one of them.
This game could've easily have been the 11-0 game that Miami had against them but, for two period, their goalie played out of his mind. I seriously think that we simply wore him down by the third period. Also, take into consideration that Miami was facing a team that was playing their second game in 2 days. Given that, they're 11-0 win was no more impressive than our 7-2 victory. At least in my opinion.
We'll find out a lot more on Friday night when we play Miami. We haven't played them since the realignment so it will be a good gauge to see how far this team has come against one of our old CCHA nemeses. I also want to see if the speed that I saw on the ice Saturday was real because SF looked like they were standing still in comparison. Basically the way we looked 5 years ago against the top teams in the CCHA....

Simon Fraser also played their backup goalie against miami, given the one they played against us was their starter.

Miami also lost to the USNTDP-U18 team on Saturday, 3-0.

Didn't we lose pretty bad against them last year, like 7-0?

Sf goalie absolutely played out of his mind. Can we sign that guy? Haha 3rd period his defenders basically gave up on him and stopped blocking shots etc. I'm somewhat worried about the fact that for the first two periods we had around 45 SOG and only scored three goals. Otherwise the guys looked physical, good speed on the ice. Who knows about goalies at this point, since we only spent like 5 min in the defensive zone and saw around 15 shots.
Also nice showing from the bleacher creatures, considering it was homecoming and all. Loved the USA chants for every scuffle.
The Miami series should be interesting, really see where the team is at.

Loved the USA chants for every scuffle.
The absolute dumbest chant. Have you looked at BG's roster? The part where they list each player's hometown?

Students are, by their very nature and definition, ignorant.
They can't help themselves...but they're fun to watch.

*most students* thank you very much. When people tried to chant "bullshit" when they waved off a high stick goal, I might have turned around and told them to shut up and learn the rules of hockey...
