Need something to do on Sunday?

Post by Freddie »

A total of seven game 3s on tap today in the other conferences.
Results of some of these will influence BG's chances of earning an NCAA at-large bid:

I'm suggesting we root for:

Union to beat #15 Quinnipiac... that would drop them below the bubble.
Notre Dame to beat #17 Mass-Lowell... that would kill them and weaken the Hockey East field.
Vermont to beat #9 Boston College...that might jump us up a spot.
Harvard to beat #14 Yale...that should eliminate Yale.
New Hampshire to beat #10 Providence...that should bump us up a notch.
Bentley to beat Mercyhurst...no effect on PWR, but I like rooting for Falcons.
Western Michigan to beat #7 Miami...it wont keep them out of the NCAAs, but I'll root against them on general principles.

I'm with you on everything except Notre Dame. It'd be just like them to win out and end up in South Bend for NCAA's.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Quinnipiac won. Notre Dame falls to Lowell.

It's getting dicey. In the Pairwise rankings BG is now #13 and just .001 from #14.

We need a win over Tech!!! A loss will end our reason.

Strength of schedule plays a role. If you look at the KRACH page at College Hockey News (http://www.collegehockeynews.com/ratings/krach.php) St. Cloud has the 2nd strongest schedule and we come in at #28.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Those losses to Anchorage (#52) and Lake Superior (#54) REALLY hurt us.

BG will be helped by a Miami win tonight. They're still looking fine for the tournament unless there are a lot of upsets in conference tournaments.

Providence lost tonight. They dropped from #10 to #15. BG was #13 but moved up to #12 after the Miami win. I assume helped our SOS. St Cloud with its 18-17 record moved up to #9.

St. Cloud has played the second toughest schedule in college hockey. They have to get one win this weekend to be considered for the tournament. NCHC plays a semi-final round and then a final with consolation game, much like the CCHA did. If St. Cloud loses both, they're out, they win one and they likely snag an at-large.
